As I hinted to in the "NFL won't let the Rams fail" thread, I'm keeping my hopes up for a surprise here.

Pat Shurmur To Coach Minnesota Vikings - by Blaine Grisak 14m ago wrote:However, DeFilippo and Shurmur would have been huge upgrades to the coaching staff and at the end of the day Fisher failed to convince either coach to stay. The Rams had one of the worst offenses in the NFL last year and will need to do something this offseason to make improvements if they want to take the next step and be a playoff caliber team.

huge upgrades? based on what? sans chip kelly shurmur hasn't done squat to distinguish himself as a superior offensive mind, or a mediocre offensive mind for that matter, his offenses in st. louis and cleveland both sucked, and the same can be said about defilippo, his offense in cleveland was about as bad as the rams despite the fact that he had one of the best olines in the league to work with... but the rams "failed" because they didn't sign an ex-coordinator who can't land a coordinator gig elsewhere? seems to me the rams would have "failed" had they hired either.

I'm not to concerned we didn't get the top 2nd tier candidates left. Kelly either.
The owner recently endorsed Jeff Fisher. Fisher recently endorsed stability. With the move, the team must feel keeping most of the status quo gives us a better chance of winning. As a result, I strongly have my doubt's an offer was extended to anyone outside the org.
Now we need to get a better QB to be the difference maker.

It is hard to imagine year 5 being much different than years 1 through 4.

thank God.

With no report so far on any contracts being offered. Gotta believe the Rams are in the kicking tires mode.

If the Rams really want a New passing Co -ordinater(I'm still really not sure what that is), *Hint* Mike Martz was in LA last week coaching the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. I'll be happy to arrange an interview.

Not huge upgrades at all...but at least some level of experience beyond our guy. Very unexciting names/choices to seek out for sure...that's issue one for me. There have been maybe 8 new OCs hired, and Rams didn't try to get in the mix for any of them. But interesting (revealing?) that Rams may not even have got to the interview stage with any of these bottom-of-the-barrel choices that they requested permission to interview. And so far, all three have quickly taken lateral or subordinate positions with other teams without talking to the Rams or quickly after doing so. Aiming low...and missing. I think the co-coordinator idea is kind of a farce to begin with (only time I can think of it working was Linehan/Callahan in Dallas), but if they don't hire anyone and just stick with Boras as the sole guy, that's got to be viewed as a failure, yes?

We don't have Kurt Warner or the element of surprise anymore.
