The halftime show looks like shit. I'd rather have the whippet.

The NFL has become so hyper-focused on social issues and projecting virtue, but still hire people like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

I guess calling women "hoes" & "bitches", and glorifying drugs, profanity & violence is just art--separate from the men or their values. Fair enough. But what about Dr. Dre being a wife beater and Snoop Dogg, you know...killing/potentially murdering somebody?

Gruden's admittedly filthy mouth got him canned quickly (maybe rightfully so). Then again, he was an employee of the NFL and I suppose Snoop and Dre are just hired hands for 15 minutes of screen time so their character is irrelevant...

...The league must have some rationale, right?

My guess is no. Whatever dominant culture decides is permissible, the league embraces and whatever the culture rejects, they discard.

The league doesn't actually have any values or standards. They have a great product though.

I work at a Gatorade filling plant. The Pepsico folks will get a holiday for the Super Bowl and take that Sunday and the following Monday off. I make the bottles under a different company name so I’ll be working. I’m sure I’ll hear all about the half time show once they return to work on Tuesday.

Up, up with people.
There's people wherever you go.
Up, up with people.
They're the best kind of folks you know.
If more people, were for people
all people everywhere
There'd be a lot less people to worry about
And a lot more people who care.
There'd be a lot less people to worry about
And a lot more people who care.

(Ah... the simpler times)
