He is no Buddy Ryan NFL Defensive Visionary in the least. :roll2:

Raheem Morris inherited the best D in the NFL in 2020.....but of course, that was running Staley's (a la Fangio's) system.

He "inherited" a defense that let Brockers, JJ, Hill and a few depth players go.

We couldn't stop the run when Wade was here. That was a common complaint. 4 times in 2019 teams ran the ball 40 times or more. 0-4. In those 4 games we gave up 816 yards on the ground.

Enter Brandon Staley. Much better than Wade but like I said, he went and so did 3 starters and some depth players. But their last game together, they got run on (188 yds) like they did tonight.

If you're up 17 points, teams are less inclined to grind it out. So you have to get a lead. That doesn't mean throw the ball up for grabs in the first half, like it's the 2nd half and you're trailing. Run the ball. Build the lead. And suddenly, you don't have to worry about the run as much and you can do what you do best. Rush the passer, play pass D and get turnovers.

It seems McVay is starting games allowing that to happen to the Rams!!! Rein it in a bit. Run the ball, pass the ball, run the ball, pass the ball. Eat clock, rest the D, put up points. Build a lead. Sounds simple but what's simple is pass, pass, pass putting your O line, QB and receivers in a bad position. Run the fucking ball and you won't have to worry about a pass rush. Then let the D do what they do best and that's not stopping the run consistently.
