BTW, i don't agree with this Brooks take at all. I mean Gurley and Goff aren't stars, not really. Ito replaced Gurley in Atlanta, Goff is middle of the pack. If you go by fantasy, Akers and Stafford are bigger stars than Gurley and Goff...

"Love'em & Leave'em in LA"????????????? :? :arrow2: :roll2:

Oh sing me another fooking song Bucky Brooks!!! :roll2:

Yeah, cutting stars when their production has waned is NOT smart in YOUR opinion???!!! :P

D'ya think Bill Belichick built that Two Decade Dynasty in New England by being a softie when it came time to cut guys who wanted a raise for stellar performance!!!?? :idea2: :arrow2: :roll2:

Even Bill Walsh kicked Joe Montana to the curb once he had Steve Young under Contract....and hey Bucky!
(in my best Lloyd Bentsen from his 1988 VP debate)
I know Joe Montana. I watched Joe Montana decimate my beloved Rams numerous times.....and Bucky, let me tell you
JARED GOFF IS NO JOE MONTANA !!!!! :idea2:

I hate that it had to end with Gurley and Goff. But they were not performing. Both guys have been richly rewarded for their jobs to the extent that they should be set for life.

Bucky said that everyone in the league has an ego. So that means that the 3rd string guard who is no good enough has an ego as well. Who is considering his ego when he gets cut?
I guess Bucky is suggesting that the Rams keep non-performers around to spare their fragile egos.
If McVay did not think that great players are needed to make schemes pop, then he would not have approved of the trade. If he believed that his system was so great that it made stars then he could have just plugged in Wolford.
Bucky’s tweet is an example of a talking head feeling as though he has to have some original thought to stay relevant even if it doesn’t make sense!

Bucky Brooks seems to have forgotten coaches are in it to win. Its clear Gurley is nowhere near his former self. As much as I've defended Goff we can't say the problems were not his fault. Maybe not all his fault but he does have limitations that affected the play calling. The clear consensus is that Stafford is an upgrade. Whether what they gave up was worth it remains to be seen.

Absolutely.

But i think Brooks is trying to say Gurley getting cut was an example of McVay having a problem with stars and i obviously disagree...

Maybe he had a problem with guys who were stars and act like it - but are no longer? There was something weird going on with Gurley at the end. I never really did understand that one.

Gurley’s legs were shot. Can’t blame McVay for dumping him.

We will see about Goff and how much better Stafford plays
