max wrote:If indeed the Carson plan is 2 years behind Inglewood, then you can add that to:
The Raiders being the popular new face of LA over Spanos's team, which I doubt the NFL wants.
Moving a team from the NFC to the AFC, which is easier said than done.
Owners without money or experience in developing anything trying to finish a project that requires outside support.

If the NFL chooses a plan with those shortcomings, they would be jeopardizing a lot just to make Spanos happy and suppress Kroenke.

This, and the argument that the Inglewood project is superior.
Did anyone notice that Policy was talking about expanding there development to include an NFL theme park scenario now too. How original.

Policy is just a mouth piece for Fabiano. He only knows what Fabiano tells him. Policy is a polished actor with a lot of GOB friends in the NFL and media who is reading from a script and applying his "talents" to paint a distorted favorable picture.

My guess is that Kroenke has been waiting to see how things develop for the Chargers in SD, so he knows exactly how much he needs to concede to get Inglewood blessed.

Very true Max and ESK has a great track record of not only getting what he wants, but knowing when the time is right. All of us will be uneasy until it's announced, but I would much rather have Kroenke at the wheel than the likes of Spanos or the Dutch Boy Paint poster boy in Mark Davis.

So I was reading a piece by CBS News that states the NFL is now conducting interviews with local stadiums in LA for temporary venues. Why is the NFL doing this? A friend of mine saw Rams representatives a year ago at the Coliseum. Is the NFL really controlling things to this extent?.

CBS's Jason LaCanfora reported in February that the Raiders are going to LA no matter what.
btw in the CBS articles you see pictures of Carson not Inglewood. WTF?

it does indicate however that somebody is coming to LA next year.

LaConfora had also reported that right now the Carson project is ahead of the Inglewood project. Now I don't pay that much attention to him, but again, why the Raiders? Why do they get Los Angeles they should be last. Again we'll get frustrated by everything that is out there, but the Raiders should last on everyone's list. No money an owner that will sell as fast as Chip Rosenbloom did because of the inheritance tax and giving Mark Davis Los Angeles would be like giving the Presidency to a haberdasher! Oh, we did that in 1945!

The thing that I don't get is the perception that Spanos and Davis have an edge because they've tried to get a stadium done in their home markets. Neither one of them has done anything but reject stadium after stadium idea because it had them spending too much money. The only work they've done is to turn their backs on SD and Oak. I'm not saying Stan is better than either of them but this perception that Spanos and Davis are victims of their current cities is just asinine to me.

Let's keep in mind that it's very possible that the only reason this perception exists is because that's what the Spanos/Davis PR guys are saying. Maybe it's true the owners don't like Stan and feel Spanos has been a good soldier but i think it's just as likely this is all PR coming from the Carson folks to keep the pressure on as long as and as best they can. They're the only ones talking to anybody.

On a slightly different note:

Agree, den.

This guy knows what he's doing. He's very methodical, and leaves nothing to chance. Kroenke is a closer.

The city of Carson will be having an open townhall meeting concerning the proposed Charger/Raider stadium on June 22nd at 6:pm at the Carson Civic Center. the MC will be am980 "The Beast" sports talk show host Fred Roggins. Carmen Policy will be giving a presentation.

As many of you already know, I live in Carson, just four blocks from the proposed stadium site, a former landfill and toxic waste disposal site. An NFL stadium would probably double the value of my home and the surrounding neighborhood. However this is not the first project we residents have been told is a "done deal", giving us residents hope we may finally get what our property is worth, only to be let down. The NFL spent over 3 mil in 1999-2000 exploring the feasibility of an NFL stadium at this site and quickly found out about the EPA and Superfund remediation, and awarded Houston the expansion.

I and several of my neighbors plan to attend, and hopefully get to ask questions. I believe the fans and the residents of Carson are being mislead. They have continually given the impression the site is "construction ready", when, in fact, it is not. As a taxpayer, I want to know who is paying for it. I will also ask to see records of where the Calif. State Board of Health and the EPA have signed off on construction. I know neither have, because full remidiation has not been completed. I intend to be VERY vocal.

Moklerman, you touched on the pilings. Its one of the points of debate. Driving pilings through 40 to 60 feet of liquified garbage, rusting 55 gallon drums and buried toxic pools to shore up the foundation could end up doing the opisite, releasing more methane and toxic sludge to the surface. I;m going to do my damndest to get some answers to these question. If any of you posters here can think of any questions for me to ask, feel free to post them or PM me. (I'm assuming they will let us ask questions, I have a hunch they may not want to hear such questions).
