but don't we need a legit OC to evaluate our offensive talent, and then to determine an offensive philosophy that compliments our unique set of talent, and then to go recruit any missing talent that further compliments our philosophy?

absolutely
but I don't necessarily want our OC playing GM that's not his job just like its not Fisher's. I would love Martz as an OC but he was pretty bad on draft day at evaluating talent. Just go back and look at his drafts. I wouldn't mind his input on a future QB though...

Basically, Fisher wants to run more:

Given Boras’ experience, Fisher said he’s expecting Boras to bring a renewed commitment to the run game that should increase production as a whole.

“What I’m anticipating is it’s play selection, it’s calls, it’s adjustments and things like that. It’s commitment to [the run] as far as the play calling is concerned,” Fisher said

I've been rooting hard for the move to LA. But if they don't fire this maroon I'm not sure I even want them.

And no OC is going to succeed without a QB.

Glad they cut him loose as his shortcomings had become obvious. Fish is on damage / career control himself. this was his first step in saving himself,,,, if it's not to late.

Can you just imagine if they:

(1) Stay in StL
(2) Keep Fisher
(3) Retain Boras as OC

I'm preparing myself now, so that I don't jump off a cliff if all of the above actually happens.

Say what?

That maroon is off the island on damage control. This move is proof of that. Not that our O is going to get better with Boras, but hopefully the bleeding will stop. Then the narrative will be, they should have quit Cigs before they got hooked from the playoffs.
