zn is guilty of recidivism in this context... he was recently called out (not by me) for ignoring the premise of another poll. I'm not sure if he's deliberately attempting to derail threads, or just doesn't bother to read before posting. Again... not really a big deal. Just thought I'd mention it to try to keep the discussion on point.

I just had knee surgery and the pain meds are kicking in, lol. The fact is, with so much volatility and uncertainty at pick #31, it truly is a crap shoot. I WANT an immediate impact edge or LB. I also would love one of those Iowa TEs. But you almost have to look at the top 4 rounds as a whole, especially if Les trades out of round 1. The goal being to get 3-4 immediate impact players for all 3 phases of the team.

But, staying on topic, "none of the above" get one of those TEs Les!!!!

I just think the draft can provide quality capital all the way down the board at those positions. Albeit, some as purely futures/developmental players and early career ST guys.

I still think they CAN get starters from the 1st 3 picks, that is it's at least possible on paper...but that will depend on who falls to them obviously. I agree about quality at those positions and of course depth too. If it turns out that the 2018 "redshirt" draft has a few players in it too they will be doing quite well.

I gotta think they will go Defense, but man the Oline needs help. Hopefully some diamonds in the rough days 2 &3.

I agree. I think this is a perfect draft for the Rams at exactly the right time as well. A lot of really talented players available at positions where we either need a couple players now, will need to replace expensive players next season, and can develop players for the future while buffing up our special teams.

The "top need", I assume means THIS year, so I would go edge rusher. Even if Matthews surprises, he probably only has 2-3 years left, and we don't know if we end up keeping/resigning Fowler. And yes, you can never have too many.

It's an interesting situation.

We just went to the SB being relatively weak at LB and edge. Now we've lost two starting Oline, TE isn't as productive as some of us think it should be and CB could certainly be an issue, especially going forward.

I also don't really have an opinion since i'm not a draftnik and i put a lot of weight on coaching when it comes to a team's success. (And i currently like our coaching a lot...)

We saw what happens when our OLine got stymied by good DCs...eg. Chicago, and NEW ENGLAND!! :(

When Jared SolidWhenProtected Goff gets hurried due to inadequate protection, he is capable of pooping the bed....a la Chicago and the Patriots. :idea2:

Beef up the OLine, we are thin there.

ER is manned by
Dante Fowler
Samson Ebukam
Obo
Clay Mathews
Justin Lawler
Trevon Young....IE. a veritable plethora of ERs at our disposal.

Meanwhile on the OLine we have two untested rooks named Noteboom and Allen....AND TWO HOLES CREATED WHEN SAFFOLD AND SULLIVAN DEPARTED!! :shock2: Can you say "thin"?????? :o

Get a coupla bona fide road graders early in the Draft, and I will be a happy camper!! 8-) JMO.

(Add Fox to your list btw.) But is it enough? They can probably scrape a some sacks out of 2-3 of those guys. But add one hot rusher to that group, and suddenly it looks very good as a unit. Or maybe Fowler finally steps up? Or both--Fowler steps up AND they add a good new prospect?

At the same time I hear you on the OL. I expect them to take some OL in the draft, maybe both high and low, and to sign some UDFAs, and to pick up a cast-off "ronin" type or 2.

Well when you put it that way... compelling. And there are some talented interior and even cross-trained options that should be available end of round one.
