So this could shift as that process plays out.Kyle ShanahanElway has a high interest in Kyle Shanahan, and reached out to him immediately. He didn't want to Gary to retire, and figures this is the next best thing. I have also heard that Elway would have no issue bringing back Mike in some kind of advisory role or even just a presence on the team, especially if it allowed for Kyle to come. The problems are twofold, though. First Kyle would likely want to call plays and be the head coach. This would present the same issues that come up when a coach wants direct control. However there is optimism in Dove Valley that a younger coach could possibly handle this. They also feel like they can sell Kyle on coming home, because his family and his wife's family is from here. The second, biggest problem, is Kyle is going to listen but is intimidated by the idea of his first gig being somewhere his father won two Super Bowls. He knows the expectations here are going to be higher than other places and he doesn't want the shadow of his father's success always being compared to his, especially in his first stop. There is talk he may be more interested in the Niners job, where he could bring his Dad in as a GM or in an advisory fashion and not have so much immediate pressure while they rebuild.Dave ToubThis is more of a turning the stones over kind of thing. But Toub is a well connected coach who's coached all three units and has a lot of respect around the league. They see him as someone who would yield control to qualified coordinators and manage the team as a whole, which has high appeal right now.Vance JosephVance Joseph was their "plan B" if Kubiak rejected the Broncos two years ago. The rist of Kyle kind of shifted off of that a bit, but he's still someone who as only enjoyed more success and growth during that time. He's well-respected around the league and they are familiar with him and his style, which they think will be a good fit. Here's where things get interesting.Vance Joseph, and this is a direct quote, wants the best situation to succeed because "I know black head coaches don't get second chances." So he wants to go somewhere where success is part of the fabric of the organization. He also wants to go where there is already a culture of winning. This means the Broncos would be fairly high up there on his list. The Broncos see Joseph as someone who would be able to lead the team and defer to talented coordinators. He is young and would keep the players coach atmosphere that Kubiak had and Elway allegedly prefers. One of the more interesting things, is it was pointed out to me that Elway has a reputation around the league as someone who is more involved than other GM's (obviously). There aren't a lot of GM's doing press conferences and those kinds of things. There is discussion that a younger coach would be more open to letting John be John and have more say in the day to day stuff than an older, more established coach. Vance Joseph apparently has high interest in coming here, and may be open to such an arrangement if it helps him get his foot in the door.http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthread.php?t=125653 Follow our RFU Instagram: @ramsfansunited RFU Season Ticket Holder 1 by RedAlice 8 years 6 months ago Total posts: 6781 Joined: Aug 07 2015 Seattle Hall of Fame The Coaching Carousel POST #76 SWAdude liked this post Article found in that same thread.
