That proposal to tear down half of the stadium and put a partially retractable roof was a horrible idea.1) the St. Louis Rams would have had to spend 3 whole seasons playing at the University of Missouri of University of Illinois. Both of which are about 2 or 2 1/2 hours from St. Louis.2) the Dome would have been unusable during that time. No concerts. No monster truck jams. No basketball games.3) the entire convention center would have been unusable for 18 to 24 months. Nearly two years of no conventions in St. Louis4) it would have required the closing off of Broadway Ave. Imagine if the Staples Center expanded and Figueroa was permanently closed5) the $600 million dome redo would have only bought peace until 2025. The Rams refused an extension and could have left after 7 or 8 years of playing in the renovated stadium. After the city rejected the plan it was silence from the Rams and government officials. Never did they say talk about a plan B. I'm not saying St. Louis is blameless. We screwed up big time 20+ years ago with the initial lease and the negotiations. But we're paying the price as everyone laughs at us. In addition the mayor of St. Louis chose not to run again, the St. Louis County chief executive quit and the governor of Missouri chose not to run for the Senate. So they paid the price. You guys weep for Stan because St. Louis is being so mean to him. But has any owner that moved a sports team ever not been a villian? Thanks for implying a bunch of things that I never said and I know I'll never come out of this discussion ahead but I'll respond anyways. After the top tier clause was shot down and the remodel of the dome was shot down the city should have done what I suggested. Work with Stan to get something built that he wanted. Instead they tried to build something so that he would be have to rent from them. That is what I was saying. I don't want to get into the top tier garbage again that's been argued to death. My comment focused on after that was shot down. by St. Loser Fan 8 years 7 months ago Total posts: 10889 Joined: May 31 2016 Saint Louis MO Hall of Fame Stan Kroenke POST #26 OldSchool wrote:Thanks for implying a bunch of things that I never said and I know I'll never come out of this discussion ahead but I'll respond anyways. At the drop of a hat he could have bought the old Chrysler factory land in Fenton or any other pieces in the area then said "build me a stadium and the Rams stay in St. Louis".
