The way they played in the preseason I wouldn't think they had much chance against the Seattle defense. I guess they're thinking preseason ain't telling everything. But I look at previous seasons. Poor preseason play preceded poor start.

Keep in mind Seattle also stumbled out of the gate I believe starting 3-3 only to end up 12-4. Rams aren't the only NFL team to get a slow start.

i'm pretty much torn here..
can the rams win, yes...can thet lose, easily...
I guess i'm putting most of my eggs in the defense basket showing up early this season, and GW putting together a game plan that surprises, and puts our guys in many more 3 and out situations, keeping them fresh, and the offense on the field... getting RW to the ground per lots of hard sacks/hits will dictate the game in my opinion...
against the run, I think we're finally ready.. this game will show if i'm right..

as for winning the game? my prediction RAMS 24-10
how many on here would tell the truth, as in "i would never want the rams to lose a game , but if they do, it stings just a little less, because if the rams ply bad, STL loses interest and seals their own fate...

me..i will always cheer, watch till the bitter end, even when down big, and celebrate victory all week, or be bummed all week after a loss, HOWEVER...I have to admit, losses this year, are gonna sting a little less.. especially when reading the fallout at the PD...

I actually took that emotional position the last couple of years as I have had a feeling the relocation thing was going to happen. Call it a hunch, but there were many a tell so I worked myself that way. This years even more so.
Still I can't get out of my DNA the desire for the horns to win. But those wins will be a bit sweeter in LA Blue and Gold.

ESPN Insider/Vegas guy Dave Tuley picks Rams vs. spread +4 too (though to be fair
he went 68-68-1 vs. the spread last year). Super Bowl losers have been lousy this
century vs. the spread -- as in 2 wins, 13 losses -- so that's a statistically valid angle.
And the public is all over Seattle too -- 73 percent of the money coming in on them --
so not surprising but that's almost always a go-against too. So Vegas thinks it'll be
close...but is that enough for the win? Here's Tuley's full take --

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matchup: Seattle Seahawks at St. Louis Rams
Spread: Seahawks -4
Public consensus pick: 73 percent picked Seahawks

Public perception: Seattle has turned into as much of a public team as anyone else, and with good reason. Two straight trips to the Super Bowl (coming up just one yard and a questionable play call from back-to-back titles) and they cover spreads too, as they were 10-6 ATS last year despite being favored in almost every game.

Wiseguys' view: There has been wiseguy resistance to the steam coming in on Seattle as this line has stayed pretty much the same despite the lopsided amount of tickets on the favorite. St. Louis coach Jeff Fisher is a wiseguy fave as an underdog, as the Rams have covered the last time they've been home dogs of four points or more. In addition, sharps like fading Super Bowl losers, as they're 2-13 ATS in Game 1s the following season.

Tuley's take: The Rams' problem is inconsistency and playing down to the level of competition when playing teams it should beat (or at least be competitive with). For instance, they were 7-9 ATS last year, but Fisher got them up for home upsets of these Seahawks, 49ers and Broncos.

The pick: Rams*
