Well, I hate to point out the pink elephant in the room, but the biggest difference between St Louis and LA?

I've lived both places so I can try and answer this.

Though, full disclosure. I lived in St. Louis in the mid 70s. I then lived near LA (Claremont) in the late 70s.

So this is THE major difference between the 2.

1. St. Louis has better barbecue.
2. LA has better seafood.

If you need barbecued seafood, move to the Gulf Coast (I lived in Louisiana too, in the mid 80s).

Now that I have definitively finished this topic off, what do we discuss next?

.

I've visited both places many times and the food in either place is nowhere near as good at the top foodie cities. The food in STL is particularly poor overall. But keep in mind I'm a food snob who lives in NY and whose family has been in the food business here since 1906.

But I do recognize that people have their own tastes. I know guys who just love McDonalds and Domino pizza and hate the stuff I like.

Actually food wasn't really the topic. It was just a joke. :D So for example...there couldn't really be great fresh SEAfood in a midwestern town on a river. Besides it depended on a comparative. Seafood is better in LA...than in St. Louis. There was no effort to challenge the great foodie meccas in the world. No restaurant reviews required. Just a sense of humor. 8-)
