T J Watt?
You have to believe this is a SB run year if they are willing to trade for TJ. He's not going to come cheap. They will have to write it for a minimum of 3 years to spread it to make him close to affordable. Young has two years left on his rookie deal that pays him less than $2M / deal. It's not like he hasn't produced with 9 sacks and 44 pressure last year. That said his weakness continues to be vs the run. TJ would be a starter for probably 2 years depending upon the cap hit.

I've got mixed feelings on this.

I don't. He's got a base salary of 21 mil this year. And he wants a new deal obviously with more years (and more money). He's 30. He's in the final year of a 4 year deal for 102 mil. You say, spead it over 3 years. You think he wants a 2 year extension? Sure for 50 mil maybe. Pay Verse. You'll have him longer.

I find it highly unlikely that the Steelers, who are also trying to make a run, are going to trade him...

three years will come and go before the Rams will have to pay Verse. But I think I agree with you. Use that money elsewhere.

Watt will be 31 a month into the season. If he wants at least 3 years added after this year he'll be 34 by the end. Seriously doubt he'll be anywhere near his production by then. And there will be a huge dead cap hit if he's released before then.

On the other hand if they're all in I guess I could see it. Might hurt them in a couple years but would another championship be worth that? I'm sure most would say yes. But as in life there are no guarantees.

The constant upgrades to become the highest paid non-QB are affecting some teams from paying a QB. JMO

The Rams might face this in the near future. Verse and others are going to get new contracts and if they want that title "Highest Paid Non-QB" the math is not going to add up.

Sounds like Parsons will take the title soon.
