30 of 32 NFL second-round picks haven't signed their contracts yet

July 12, 2025

With the Los Angeles Chargers reporting to training camp on Saturday, Tre Harris is the first second-round rookie to step into camp in his current contract situation.

He won't be the last.

Harris is one of 30 second-round rookies who haven't yet signed contracts.

The only two who have signed are the first pick of the second round, Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger, and the second pick of the second round, Texans receiver Jayden Higgins. Both were given fully guaranteed deals by their teams.

The rest of the selections are likely seeking close to full guarantees that aren't the standard offers for second-round picks.

"The problem is simple to explain, far from simple to solve," Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio writes. "Before 2025, no second-round picks had received fully-guaranteed rookie contracts. With the Texans giving receiver Jayden Higgins, the second pick in round two, a fully-guaranteed deal, the issue was framed. The Browns quickly gave linebacker Carson Schwesinger, the first pick in round two, a fully-guaranteed deal. They had little choice, once the player taken immediately after him got a fully-guaranteed contract. For the next 30 picks in round two, no deal has been done. While all of them participated in the offseason program under participation agreements, they won’t be practicing (or even present) without signed contracts."

It's not an ideal situation for teams. It'll be fascinating to see how long it takes to resolve.

For those wondering, these are the second-round picks, from No. 35 overall through No. 64 overall, who have yet to sign:

Nick Emmanwori, Seahawks

Quinshon Judkins, Browns

Jonah Savaiinaea, Dolphins

TreVeyon Henderson, Patriots

Luther Burden, Bears

Tyler Shough, Saints

T.J. Sanders, Bills

Mason Taylor, Jets

Alfred Collins, 49ers

Donovan Ezeiruaku, Cowboys

JT Tuimoloau, Colts

Terrance Ferguson, Rams

Will Johnson, Cardinals

Aireontae Ersery, Texans

Demetrius Knight Jr., Bengals

Elijah Arroyo, Seahawks

Nic Scourton, Panthers

Oluwafemi Oladejo, Titans

Benjamin Morrison, Buccaneers

Anthony Belton, Packers

Tre Harris, Chargers

Ozzy Trapilo, Bears

Tate Ratledge, Lions

Jack Bech, Raiders

Mike Green, Ravens

RJ Harvey, Broncos

Trey Amos, Commanders

That's a lot of deals to still get done.
