Maybe for a couple of reasons. One might be, after all the maneuvering we only ended up with 6 picks so why waste one on a backup QB? Another might be after the top 2 or 3 QBs in this draft class, they rated no QB significantly better than Bennett.

He's one injury away from retirement. I love Stafford but he only has a couple years left in him. Draft a QB next draft and let JG go. Get ready for the future now, not when we're desperate.

Yep dont be Pittsburgh right? The idea of a young QB NOT training under Stafford would be a terrible miss of a great growth. I literally dont think there is anyone else better to model the way at QB.

Not sure why you need 3 QBs. Stafford/Jimmy G. is a solid 1-2.

I won't be surprised if Bennett gets cut, maybe ends up on PS, maybe doesn't.

Maybe the Rams do like the idea of 3 QBs but to me seems like a lot of happenstance.

When Wolford was the clear #2, Perkins became this ingriguing project, maybe joker player that Rams were afraid to expose to waivers so they kept 3 that year.

Then they drafted Bennett with the idea that he could be a solid, relatively long term, inexpensive backup to Stafford. So what happens? He sits out his rookie year throwing that plan into the garbage.

Then they get Jimmy G. but he's suspended for the first 2 games.

Assuming no one gets hurt or suspended between now and September, we have a clear 1 and 2 going into camp.

Will they keep a 3rd? This will be a good test for finding out how the Rams feel about it...

I think it would safe to waive Bennett in TC and add to the practice squad, dont imagine many suitors.
I do think Jimmy is made of glass so there is a decent risk both QB's get hurt. If that happens we arent winning anything anyway.

Yes, and that really applies to just about any team. Once you get down to QB3, you're basically done.

So why waste a roster spot on one?

When you need a QB3, the Dresser Winns of the world are always available off the street.

It's a real catch 22, you look like a fool if you're down to your 3rd QB and you have nothing even halfway decent to put out there but you're screwed already. It doesn't really matter.

I'd rather, especially since the Rams have SB aspirations this year, build your roster to maximize the upside, not minimize the down...

Yep to you and Rams74 but I think it is important to at least have someone who has been in the system awhile, hence important to stash him on PC.
