I can’t say why but I feel more confident this year with Garoppolo backing Stafford. I always thought he had skills, was glad he was cost effective but didn’t see anything in that one game that changed my mind on his limited skills. Maybe it’s because he’s in his 2nd yr with McVay. Maybe the chemistry with Stafford or the upgrade with Adams and Ferguson with a deep WR bench. Don’t get me wrong, I still think Higbee is a top TE and Kupp will somehow hurt us as he’s still sneaky good. Still, with the RB room and solid OLine this may be the best 1-2 QB tandem since Warner/Green. No way I want to see Stafford go down but having a solid b/u with this much experience is not bad.

JG is a very efficient "paint by numbers" qb but IMO he's not clutch. He can be effective in a lot of games but not really as much when/if the game is on the line.

No I would not say Jimmy is clutch. But he can win some games with his skill set and this offense. I thought he did pretty good playing with backups against Seattle's first string. If he had his first string I think he wins that one.

He had a chance to win it with just over 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter (down by 5) but then choked on a 4th and 3 from the Seattle 9.

I didn't come up with the "not clutch" view of him because of that game, though that game kind of confirmed my opinion.

He was very efficient through most of that game though. In fact a lot of screen passes that had stopped working for Stafford that season, JG executed well.

Someone needs to step up and ask Davante Adams how confident he is with Garoppolo.

He can certainly win with that offense and that defense helping him. Can he win “the big game?” He’s won a few, but not the biggest. Hopefully we don’t have to see him other than in mop up duty.
