I realize it's unlikely McVay will change his MO and no, I haven't gone through the laundry list of injuries we seem to rack up in the first few games but we've seen stars go down like Kupp & Nacua and our entire OLine one year. Last year we got torched by AZ due to DB injuries or simply not having the starters locked in. I'm hoping we get all starters some field time in pre-season, at least a dress rehearsal to avoid coming out flat from sitting for 2 months. Digging out of a hole every year has been the theme and this year's schedule is no better.

As an aside I'm not often concerned about the schedule because so many teams expected to be hot, flop and others struggle for various reasons. I see teams on the schedule I expect to be Wins but there are always those sleepers that surprise.

Except for the last 2 years, McVay's Rams have had fast starts pretty much every season he's been here. He never plays his starters in preseason so why would we think that's the reason for the last 2 years? Why so many good starts before then?

And they don't sit for 2 months. The starters scrimmage other teams multiple times during training camp. That's where the work gets done. A lot of teams are doing it like that now.

Will McVay change it up? Maybe, but i doubt it...

After all the injuries they historically have? No way. Why change his normal routine? There is zero reason to put starters at risk.

Why do you think they are carrying and paying Bennett? They have a lot of young depth players that will need the experience.

Yep...That's not going to happen.

McVay has figured out how to prepare his team without playing his players in meaningless games.

Every year a team loses a star in the preseason. The Rams don’t risk that. They get their players ready through scrimmages. Head to head with other teams in a controlled environment.

I will say, McVay is always looking for something different. He wants a competitive edge. If he thinks he can get his guys ramped up with a few preseason reps it could happen.

My money is on the "Not Gonna Happen" side. 8-)

The consensus is in. No one thinks McVay will change his MO but 2 seasons? How did you forget the debacle of 2022?? That’s 3 straight seasons with slow starts and injuries. 2022 we never recovered from even though we overcame 2023 & 2024. I equate injuries with bad luck AND not being game ready on game day. I know we won’t see Stafford in the preseason and that’s OK.

You're arguing that McVay SHOULD play starters in preseason, because of injuries and not being ready to start the regular season.

The rest of us aren't arguing whether he should or should not do that. We're simply stating that McVay WON'T do that.

Some of us (me) might even believe that he should play starters at least a little bit in preseason. But the only one who has an opinion that matters here, is Sean McVay. And he's just not going to do that.

I don't have to agree with every single decision he makes to be able to trust him. Which I do, absolutely.

Rams started 2-1 in 2022 and then pretty much collapsed after that. The whole season was a disaster so i don't think of them as a team that started slow and then got their shit together. They started shaky and got worse.

I don't think of that season as one you could potentially explain by not playing starters in preseason...

2022 was a total disaster. I said they recovered from their slow starts in 2023 & 2024 but all 3 years were slow out of the gate. I agree, McVay won’t play starters in pre season. I don’t know if that’s good or bad.
