I'd love to get Burrow as a successor to Stafford. But would Cincy trade their best chance at a championship?

For Joe 2026 is a contract year. It's not only their decision to make. It sounds more and more like Burrow is unhappy in Cincy. They can't keep their roster together. If they don't trade him they would risk losing him and get nothing. This is a good year to have 3 first round picks to move where ever they want to get who ever they want.

My only real concern about Joe is whether or not the Rams will see him as a Culture fit. Publicly he says all the right things. But there are questions when you look at reality from the outside. Case in point when he was negotiating for his current contract he said all the right things to stay affordable to allow the team to keep the roster together....yada yada yada. But when you look at the contract that was signed it wasn't what Joe talked about. It's a reason they are struggling to build muchless maintain the roster around him.

Thats why I'm not going to dismiss them drafting a QB in 2026. Then they know they will have 5 years of affordable QB1. All that money will go to extending the roster they have built and that money starts flowing next year. It's why I'd rather they extend key players than another year of a $50M rental. What they are paying Stafford means precious little is carried over to next year. If they pay Stafford the $50M he's going to demand who do they not extend?

Burrow won't be cheap but he's young enough to spead the cap hit over several years for the same kind of money Stafford is going to want year to year.

Like I said, this opened my eyes to just how much latitude the Rams have when it comes to getting their future franchise QB. They have the draft capital to trade for one (i.e. like Burrows) or to draft one. So it's going to be very interesting next year.

Dare everyone in here. Let me make this clear.

The Joe Burrow trade would happen before Chase and Higgins are signed.

After this no way. Burrow is the Bengal culture. Ohio Bred. He stayed.

Basically if the Rams had the number 1 pick drafted Arch Manning threw in the pick. It still wouldn’t be enough for Burrow. I just dont see it. Not with Chase in Cinccinatti that aligns with his contract.

Basically NFL goes

1. Patrick Mahomes /Quarterback

2. Joe Burrow/Quarterback

3. Josh Allen /Quarterback

4. Lamar Jackson/Quarterback

Thats now all the young guys. Oh yeah Burrow took the Bengals to the super bowl. They aren’t trading Burrow to the team that beat them in the super bowl.

5. Matthew Stafford/Quarterback

You aint trading for the next

I was the first one who suggested the trade. But why would this trade happen after Mike Brown tie all that money into Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins. I could see if they were trying to cut the salary back.

But this was all for Burrow to show the commitment of the team they are keeping around him.

Quarterbacks like Burrow Mahomes Allen and Jackson dont move.

And I know we said the same thing about Stafford but this was after Calvin Johnson retired and no playoff wins. And Detroit got a haul.
