Probably more to the Carr story. If he didn't retire, he was guaranteed another $30 mil. Saints probably think he signed the recent extension under false pretenses and this is the compromise...

I agree, prolly a LOT more to the story.

on a side note ... here's a quote posted on the Raiders forum that I have to agree with 100%

"He's either the worst good QB ever or the best bad QB ever and I can't decide which"

Always liked Derek Carr. Since his Fresno State days. The way he was treated by the Raiders at the end was tragic. He did all he could for a bad team and bad management. Then signed with a team with not much better talent. Don't understand the lack of respect for a guy who was never a diva and acted with class. His teammates loved him.

When I look at the Falcon's next year I see a team that might compete for the NFCE title, though with Tampa has a tendency to over perform at times. Both their first round picks were for edges. Both have good ceilings, but I question how good they will be THIS COMING SEASON.

As I said before the draft the #26 pick is essentially a very high second round type pick in the level of players you would normally get. The Falcons took another edge in James Pearce who was projected at a low first round high second round pick.

Both edges will be key to the Falcon's season next year. I don't see a clear "Verse & Fiske" in them. Both project as being more rotational and situational. I think both will ultimately have decent careers but I see the Falcon's coming in second in their division. Though Penix is a true wildcard. He's got much more potential than Mayfield, but it will depend upon how he's used. He's got dual threat speed but the Falcons will be foolish to use him in that way. His injury history is what IMO dropped him in the draft. As much as I like Penix I rated Nix over him simply due to durability.

If Penix can have a Nix like year in 2025 the Falcons could project as at least a wildcard contender. So I think the Rams should realistically look at that pick as being being close to where the Falcons were in 2025, i.e. mid first round.

Regardless the combined picks assuming the Rams will be picking #32 next year :D should give them top 10 potential to move up should they elect to do so. It's clear however that the QB needy teams passed on QBs in 2025 with an eye on 2026 so moving up might be difficult to pull off if they need to move into the top 10 and it could involve their 2027 first rounder.

That said with 5 potential targets, that should allow the Rams to get a QB1 they want and need. Considering how much they are paying Stafford this year, I don't see the Rams affording to start him next year regardless of what they publicly say. If they take a QB in the first round he will likely have to start as a rookie. That said they have the roster now to do exactly that.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they did take a dual threat type of QB. I think that is the import of Sean's glowing comments about Jaylen Daniels. So Klubnik and Sellers come to mind. If they both continue to show development improvement this collegiate season I can see them being high on the Rams target list of QBs not named Manning.

There is one aspect that is intentionally being ignored. If Manning knew he would be the Ram's number one QB target would he forego that extra collegiate season so he would go to a winning organization instead of wasting the first 5 years god knows where. But realistically, if Manning comes out the price will be very high indeed because he would be on every team that needs a QB list so there would be no guarantee.

It's why personally I'm going to focus upon the more likely targets next year with Klubnik, Sellers, Nussmeier and Imalaeva near the top.

Nice to see you include the Rams QB trolling in any thread. Around the league isn’t immune to your tunnel vision. At least you didn't bring up the usual Stafford bashing.

Nix threw for over 3700 yards 29 TD's and ran for 4 TD's. QB rating 93.3.

Penix started 3 games. 3 TD's/3 INT's. Ran for another. QB rating 78.9. Not much of a sample size. We'll have to wait and see if he's gonna be a legit starting quarterback.

If the Falcons make the playoffs that pick would be no lower than 18. Honestly, I'll be surprised if they make the playoffs. I see them somewhere in the 7 or 8 win area. Making the pick somewhere between 10-15. They're probably 2nd best in the division. NO and Carolina are pretty bad.

Precisely!!!

And for the quote you replied to, the Rams don't have to realistically look at that Atlanta pick as anything other than a first round pick. They don't have figure out where it might be, because when the games are done, they'll know. The 2025 games. Like in January 2026. John Madden had a good quote. "Don't worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon".
