Is it because of continuity from year to year.....Snead > McVay > Scouting......that the Rams find players in the late round and as UDFA's who contribute to the roster being complete? There is a certain type they are looking for beyond the measurables and performance from top to bottom. They seem to require a certain attitude towards football that is imperative to be a Ram.

I could care less about his overall speed. He has excellent short area quickness.
I think he makes the team and get some plays. He is another cerebral player that gets open and runs great routes.

Love this pick

Man watched more on Mumpfield film, he is so quick in and out of this breaks. Reminds me of St. Brown coming out of his breaks. Really hope he gets a opportunity to play, he going to make some big plays...

Mumpfield has skills to fit his role in the offense. WR isn't just about speed and Nacua and Kupp have proved that.

My issue with Williams is he is not the every down RB you really want. He's essentially a chain mover. That's fine but as their every down starter they have left points on the board and McVay finally understands that. Speed has it's place but to think it's the only metric that matters then those people need to take a hard look at guys like Nacua and Kupp.

Yeah I have been critical of Williams but if a person can't understand that, then they should look at what McVay has said about Hunter. What he said is the same thing I've said for a long time about the only issue I have with Williams.

In Corum they have a slightly faster RB but still lacking in breakaway speed to threaten an NFL defense. He's a fine #2RB and a chain mover type of RB as is Williams. But Corum lacks the vision that is needed when you run inside.

So if you have an issue with what I've been saying I guess you have that same issue with McVay and Snead.

I like Williams and he's certainly a baller.....BUT, man those fumbles. Now he has that reputation and D's are really working on stripping the ball out. He HAS to remedy that or I think we will move on from him, even thou he's border line elite.

Call it the Gurley Effect. RBs are expendable no matter how good. It's NEVER good to give them a stellar second contract. They take a beating that eventually makes it a bad move. Or as in Williams case, the fumbles. It's not about breakaway speed or keeping points off the board. It's about wasted possessions and eating clock. You can't eat clock with a fumbler. Barkley/Philly and Henry are the rare exceptions to the Gurley rule but I'd bet both will become yesterday's news fairly soon.

William's fumbles have been a huge issue with me. They come at some of the most inopportune times.

Hunter returns the RB threat that they haven't had since Gurley. Yeah I see them using Hunter a lot 2026 on forward then drafting another RB.

Mumpfield IMO could turn out to be one of the most underrated rookies. He's got better speed than Kupp had as a rookie. Kupp dropped because he lacked elite speed but proved that route running is an art that some WRs understand while others never get.

Kupp's lack of elite speed never hurt him and it's why I can see a similar type of WR in Konata. He's the same type of short to intermediate zone possession WR that Kupp was early in his career. I see another starter in him and think a lot of fans will tend to sleep on him simply because of his lack of elite speed. People made the same mistake with Kupp. Only time will tell whether Mumpfield can be another Kupp but to think he's not would be a mistake.

Yeah offensively, Hunter and Mumpfield will be starters next year and be impact players. Defenses can no longer play "pass first" when Hunter is on the field. It's the threat level he represents vs the defense that adds a dimension to his game lacking in Williams.
