In the regular season we had a total of 38 sacks and ranked #21 in the league. Avg of 2.25 per game :roll2:
In the regular season when we beat the Vikes and lost to the Eagles we only had 2 sacks vs the Vikes and one vs the Eagles. In only those two playoff games we played against them, we tied (with the Eagles who played four post season games) with 16 sacks! No one else was close.
I've mentioned before and contend that after Shula saw how the Lions destroy the Vikes Oline with stunts, he picked that up and we got 9 sacks vs. the Vikes in the play offs. and
Vs. the Eagles we got another 7 sacks, even with Fiske out early in the 3rd qtr.

I want to believe Shula will strongly go with D line stunts all season due to the huge success we had doing them especially with Poona now in the middle. We probably have both the smallest D line in the league, but also, the very quickest. I think we will get over 50 sacks in the '25 regular season!

Shula will have options. He can have more beef with Poona in there on early downs. With Verse, Young and Stewart he can have 5 guys on the line with one ILB and 6 DB's on obvious passing situations. Maybe rush 5. Maybe one drops back in coverage. Maybe the ILB blitzes. Keep the offenses guessing.

They have prioritized pass rush and QB disruption. The down side is elite RBs can punish the D once they get through the front. Hopefully more speed at LB and more experience inside at DL will help nullify that. It’s a good trade off, frankly as there aren’t but 2 or 3 elite backs like Barkley. There are a lot of good QBs. The Rams O needs to score a lot and make opposing offenses have to rely on passing and not be able to be balanced.

You can make an argument that the snow and Hurt's knee helped the Rams in the playoff game, but yes, seems like the Rams are prioritizing getting to the QB over adding to the secondary...

I've always felt that if you're going to play a shell/zone defense, then you don't need elite DBs, especially if you have a terrorizing defensive line

True BC. You need smart and athletic DBs who can tackle - not coverage all stars, better in zone than man is fine too. Our ILBs will be key to run defense and underneath coverage. And our O can really help the D if they can score consistently over 24/game.

Right? It's like Kurt Warner once said on how to stop the GSOT, get pressure with your front 4. The Bucs and Eagles were both really good at that back in the day...

i'm not trolling ya Mod, but if i'm not mistaken those teams had Vic Fangio as their DC (or at least coaching a position group on the Defense)..

That;s the only game in his entire career where Hurts was sacked 7 times. The Rams got a safety in that game too.
