And we're aware the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions have never played in a Superbowl. Both storied franchises who had a lot of success in the 50's. But there are others who've previously made the Superbowl but haven't made it back in a long time. We know the Jets, after beating the heavily favored Colts in 1969, haven't been back since. Since the turn of the century, now 25 years, only eleven teams haven't made it to the big game. The shocking droughts are teams like the Miami Dolphins (40 years) and Dallas (29 years). Joining those two and the four who've never made it there, are Buffalo, Minnesota, the Chargers and Washington. The Bills have been close and might get there soon. Some believe Washington is getting closer, now that they have Jayden Danials. Likewise with the Chargers and Harbaugh. Houston has a good head coach and a talented QB. Jacksonville has a new regime and a lot of talent. The Lions certainly seem like they're on the precipice. That leaves Dallas, Miami, Cleveland, Minnesota and the Jets. Those last 5 don't seem to be any closer than they've been the last 25 years. The Dolphins and Vikings seem the most likely out of those last 5 five but Cleveland, Dallas and the Jets problems start at the top. Ownership. Which means they're going to have to get extremely lucky. Who out of those eleven 21st century Superbowl-less teams are the closest? I'd say Detroit, Buffalo, Washington, Houston and the Chargers. What say you? And why? Been following the horns since the Coliseum had a Roman playing there. They were well on their way this previous season and might have done it if it hadn't been for the Rams and Darnold's epic meltdown. I will continue to foolishly talk sh*t about random players because they get better IMMEDIATELY after I do!!
