I counted so far with the roster including those we signed from last years PS 64,
and this year's draft 6 and the UDFA 17, I came out with 87, 3 more to sign.

Trey Wedig is an interesting signing as he's the only true OT among the UDFAs. He's somewhat of a project but they could have their RT next year. Trey's issue are developmental in that his technique is all over the place making him inconsistent. Most importantly he needs a whole lot of work on his footwork, which leads to many of his issues. He tends to play too high, but so did Havenstein coming in as a rookie.

If Wedig can improve his footwork he could have the best foot quickness of all the OTs on the roster. With a lot of work on the field and in the weight room to improve his strength and hand coordination Trey could be good enough to start in 2026. That is a big if, but they stuck with Jackson who needed a whole lot of work as well.

I see them reworking Havenstein's contract for this season and giving him one more starting year. They have McClendon as a backup RT this year as well. The real issue is what they do for LT depth? I think they will wait for the roster cut downs and pick up a vet OT to play swing.

Wyatt Bowles comes in as an OG but he has experience at RT as well. He might be a better prospect for RT because I think he's better in terms of technique than Wedig right now.

But the most intriguing UDFA might be RB Jordan Waters. He's 6' weighing in at 224. He's faster than Kyren as he timed at 4.58 (which is about the same as Corum who is 5'8"). What I see in Waters is something the Rams have ignored and that is a 3rd down RB. The problem with the small RBs that McVay prefers is that they are mismatched if asked to block on third downs. Kyren is the best they have and he's been okay but he gets one shot then Matt has to make sure the ball is gone. Waters is a good RB who also has good hands as a receiver. If he can be coached up to pass block he can fit that 3rd down role for the Rams and reduce, wear and tear on Hunter.

I find it interesting that there are so many OGs among the UDFAs. Obviously they have questions regarding their depth on the IOL.

I admire your insomnia. To post as often as you do, and still have time to watch all those college games and highlight reels, as well as Rams games, there must be little time to sleep. And we are better informed because of it.

I had lunch yesterday with a fishing buddy of mine. He went to Indiana and still follows their team. He knows I'm a Rams fan and he made an interesting comment. He said he heard via his social media that the Rams signed Trey Wedig as an UDFA. He asked if the Rams needed a RT.

He told me that Wedig looked like a decent RT in his starts at Indiana last year. According to him the biggest issue was he is going to be understrength and will need a year to improve his footwork and physical strength. According to him, Wedig doesn't look like a scrub just a player who needs a good physical training regime and a year of solid coaching. He knows that Alaric was an UDFA so he said Wedig might surprise on the right side if they can give him a year to develop. I'm not a big PFF fan but my friend is. He said they had him ranked as the #31 OT in the draft and specifically at RT.

Maybe the Rams have addressed the RT position. Havenstein wants to play one more year and if medically checks out I don't see the Rams not playing him in this SB run year.

I think Wedig is another UDFA I have high hopes for. He could be some competition at RT.

The RB Waters is intriguing since he has real size. Maybe he can be practice squad, we have a crowded running back room. Hunter will see time as a 3rd down back if McVay has enough confidence in him.

I heard similar on Wedig, Rams are good and finding OG/OT in the UDFA market. Going to be some good competition in camp.

Does Lampkin become a hydrid fullback in the rams offense, maybe use around goaline. The comparison to the Ravens Ricard is interesting....
