Yeah IMO he fits McVay's QB profile. Good arm, pocket passer with good mobility, though not an RPO QB. He's a leader and would benefit greatly from a year of mentorship with Stafford.

Outside of the first round I like Howard a lot and taking it from a possible McVay perspective he might think so as well. I admit I might have been too hasty in my initial judgement of Howard. Yeah he's a bit of a project but it's polish not so much as developmental. Give him a year to work out the kinks in his game and he could be a very good QB.

Like I've said about other QBs, it's more about scheme fit for the Ram's offense. Howard is a fit for what it is now and where McVay might want to take it. His mobility adds a huge dimension that is lacking in Stafford. He also has demonstrated leadership a huge part of the Ram's culture.

The Rams need to lock down the QB position because they now have the first round picks to grab a first round LT next year which will be a contract year for Jackson. It would give them contract control over a position that can be expensive for 5 years.

Nope zero chance and I mean ZERO, Rams wont do anything QB wise until at least the 4th round and most likely later if someone falls.

Stop making so much sense AJ. Couldn’t agree more with you latest takes, including this one

I think the Rams could draft a QB in the 4th to basically be Stetsons replacement this year and compete with a new guy next year (Manning?) For jimmy G's replacement. Maybe two seasons from now matt, jimmy and Stetson are gone, and the Youngbloods takeover, for little money.

Will Howard, maybe. 2nd round, no chance. Though ESPN is mocking Milroe to the Rams in the 2nd.

Jourdan is saying with this extra 1st round pick next year, Rams are now less likely to draft a QB this year...

You don’t draft a project like Howard, who is a consensus mid/late pick and try to develop him. Not in the 2nd round. If you draft a qb in the second he is NFL ready or close. Not someone who needs a lot of development. No way this is the way they go by picking up a decent 2nd round pick. This is purely for one of their desirable 2nds or falling 1sts.

They have Jimmy G and Stetson (maybe?) Only way they go QB is late in the draft for someone who could potentially replace Jimmy G and Stetson going forward

I agree, with the only caveat being the Rams are really unpredictable. Maybe McVay is enamored with one of these QBs. I mean i doubt it, but maybe...

Don't see them drafting a QB this year. I'm thinking the trade might set them up to try and get one early next year's draft. As far as Howard, I don't know why I'm getting Sean Mannion vibes with the guy.

There is a guy named Will that I'm hoping for. Will Johnson. But I doubt he lasts till pick number 46.
