I didn’t want to start a new post but I didn’t see one on the trade-back itself or the impact. I see it as a wash and still can’t understand the fans’ reactions once you realize we moved back 20 spots and left A LOT of good players on the board. 13-14 more today unless we trade up.

As I understand it we dropped back from #26 to #46, giving us a 2nd we didn’t have and merely replacing this year’s first with what is likely a late round 1st in 2026. We picked up a 7th but gave one of our 3rd rounders to Atlanta to GET that 2nd. Yes, we’ll have 2 number ones next year but we already left 6 stellar players go to other teams including Atlanta’s LB pick, Pearce and another S, CB, LB and 2 OT first round picks that could have helped us this year.

We only got a 3rd for Ramsey. If McSneed trade next year’s #1 to Miami taking on his 70 mil contract….. Tell me that will not happen. lol

Because the Rams believe like many there isnt much of a gap in talent between the 20th player and the 80th.

Atlanta could be solid to good but they are starting basically a rookie QB, good chance they finish in the middle of the pack or possibly lower.

We traded the very low 3rd round pick (basically a high 4th round) that we got for Raheem, not ideal but to get a number 1 next year is incredible.

Having two number 1's in a much more talented draft in 2026 is huge and we still have two picks in the top 90 where the value is in this draft.

I promise you they will not trade a 1 for Ramsey. I think they had a few targeted 1st round players who went before their pick and they have a larger grouping of fallen 1st rounders (if they should still be there when they pick) or not having a certain player rated much higher than others. So, they feel they can get a player they wanted that fell out of the 1st on their board or they thought wouldn’t be there in the 3rd.

The extra 1 next year is the reason. Gives them so many chips to move way up for a certain player they love. I’m thinking this is their desired qb, and they’ll have the ammo to get them.

FWIW I have no interest in a Ramsey reunion and there are some solid CBs still out there. We shall see

Totally agree. And I could see Rams even trying to get another 2026 1st so they would be able to trade 3 for either the 1 2 or 3rd overall.

Pearce is not a first round talent, Rams got a first round pick in a better draft next year and they don't have many holes to fill. The talent between #26-#46 doesn't drop off much if at all. It was a smart move.

Current betting win total for Atlanta next year is 7.5. Most everyone thinks this was a good trade for the Rams and if you go by the points system, Rams won the trade that way too...

Does anyone really think Atlanta's pick next year would be in late in the first round? I honestly see them somewhere in the 10 to 18 range. Not a playoff team. So we basically swapped number 26 for number 18 or lower. That in itself is a win. Then we swapped number 101 for number 46. That is definitely a big win. I'd say the numbers alone we did pretty good. Especially if we exercise patience as this is for next year. For the impatient ones I can see the frustration. Wanting a good pick now.

Yeah, some assumptions in the original post.

Left a lot of "good players" on the board. 10-15? Perhaps that 10-15 is from a group of 50-60 of the same caliber.

That #1 pick from Atlanta is "most likely" late in the round. Cincinnati was 9-8 this past year and they picked 17th. Atlanta's over/under for wins is 7.5? If it plays out that way, we 'may be' talking 11th to 14th pick.

How much talent did we pass over? Maybe a good indicator of how weak the upper part of this draft was is that 3 guards were drafted in the first round!

Great post. Some fans are going to fall into that forest for the trees predicament.

The Rams believe there are about 100 desirable players who will help this team now and in the future. So, they got a first rounder in the ‘26 draft that is predicted to have more high end talent AND they have the same number of roughly top 100 picks as they had before the draft - 3. Or, I fully believe they are going to use the picks they have now to create more picks in the top 150 knowing that a number of THEIR top 100 will be available. I think they end up with only 4-5 picks in this draft with most, if not all in the top 150. Just my gut on this.

This was a great trade.

I see the logic, but the what IFs bother me. What IF Penix manages to take ATl to the playoffs? What IF we had all the pieces to win another SB except one (see E. Jones and our run D) ? I guess some people feel Reeder IS the answer. lol. What if Stafford gets hurt this year and retires? I’m not saying Sanders, hell no but 7 to 19 worthy players passed over this year for who may be available next year? You can’t pass on your #1 pick and defer it to 2026 but this feels like the next best thing. I have faith in McSneed, but it’s like the lottery….yeah, I’ll take my money now.
