ramsww wrote:A lot of this has to do with timing. I know McVay likely said this but as I recall the horse was out of the barn and headed out of town. I don’t see how this implies any effort Kupp made to stay in LA. Again, this is an opinion forum and like butt holes everybody’s got one and everyone thinks theirs doesn’t stink. IMHO I think Kupp felt the best he could get was a 1 yr deal in LA at 7-10 mil and his agent said I can get you 45 mil. Pissed for the obvious disrespect but glad to get paid..again. MY OPINION, quoting no article. I have no receipts. I thought when you wrote something on a sports forum it was a given it was that person’s OPINION. I just want to be clear. 😝

Here's Jourdan saying Rams never asked Kupp to redo his contract:

"I had previously reported that the Rams did not ask Kupp to restructure his contract/have that conversation and McVay today confirmed they still have not."

So we have Kupp saying he asked if there was anything he could do and was told no. We also have McVay and Snead saying they did not ask Kupp to restructure.

Seems like we have a lot of information saying Kupp never had the option to take a cut...

I get it. You guys just like to be contrary and argue but ya know? Sounds a lot like opinions from 3rd party sources or in other words…opinions. No one but Kupp, McVay and a few others really know, least of all anyone on this forum.

Seriously, if there's even one source saying Kupp was offered a chance to stay buy taking a cut and he refused, i'd love to see it.

Everything i've seen, from Kupp himself, from McVay, from the reporters who cover the Rams is that never happened.

Sounds a lot like that argument "Stafford talks about retirement all the time"!

If anyone knows whether or not Kupp had enough left in the tank, its the coaches. At this stage of his career, he sure did look like a middling possession receiver. Its nice to have those type of receivers but not at that cost. I suspect with Seattle he will be a 70 catch 800 yards 5 TD's type of receiver. And that is if he doesn't miss games. Not bad but far from his former self.

I believe the Rams were willing to pay a portion of his contract if another team was willing to make a trade. At least its what I've heard and read. The fact that no one was willing to make that trade is telling. They knew Gurley didn't have much left in the tank. I think they felt the same way with Kupp.

Yes. Your opinion IS valid.

Though it is obvious that Kupp's has lost a step and a half, nevertheless he still has LOTS of talent.

For the Rams to basically fire him without an opportunity to talk about a new contract suggests to me that there are other reasons for Kupp's dismissal.

What's being unsaid in public?

Rams fans know how to do math, and it doesn't add up.

All we can do is opine.

Kupp and McVay both say no cut was offered whereas you, someone on this forum, started a thread saying Kupp should have taken a cut...
