This is an interesting read. He's far from a finished product with a lot of developmental needs. But he has the tools to be a good RB much like I have envisioned. He's got breakaway speed, vision and agility to run inside.

Because he isn't going to be a day one starter he's the kind of guy you can grab on the third day because of the depth of RB in this draft. Because they have Williams and Corum they have their starters. The Rams can use the year into giving a guy like Hunter the tools to be a starter, things like pass protection, route running and other techniques not normally emphasized at the collegiate level.

Since the Rams might need a RT or TE I might normally look at him and think 5th round but since they don't have one I could see him going at 190 if they prioritize other positions. Old school drafts would have teams taking RBs in rounds 3-5 so perhaps as high as the Ram 127 pick in Rd 4?

But it fits what I've been hearing about their quiet search for a RB. Hunter has the speed they absolutely need at RB. Note they took Williams in the 5th round.

If they extend Williams then it becomes less of a priority. They thought Zach Evans could be viable running back. That one didn't work out. While there are exceptions, there's usually a reason a guy isn't picked sooner.
