I liked Johnson but like Atwell he was underused. Oh well, we aren't going to fail because we lost him and DRob. One other thing......does it indicate the trust they have in Atwell when DRob and Johnson walk but he gets 10 mil?

Atwell lost his role in the revised passing offense. But as I speculated Atwell has been resigned because his original role of deep pass threat has been revived. This is one of the things that make me think that Sean is going to blend the 2018 offense and the 2024 offense into a hybrid of the two. If he drafts a faster RB with true breakaway speed, it will be the final piece. With Naca, Adams, Whittington, and Atwell, Sean has the WRs to emulate the passing attack they had with Woods, Watkins and Austin only Adams elevates this passing threat to another level.
What the 2018 offense had that is lacking in the current personnel is the HR hitting RB. Sean has the move the chains plays, but lacks the personnel to threaten the defense from anywhere on the field on the ground. Once that RB is on the team, this offense will look very much like that one did. This OL is very similar in many respects to that one as well.
Shula's defense is similar to Wade Phillips's, a 3-4 hybrid, which is a one-gap attacking style. IMO, Shula is a better play caller than Phillips, and I watched Phillips when he was in San Diego as well.
With that HR hitting RB this offense will be as fearsome as that one was...perhaps more so because McVay has shown he can play ball control as well. Defensively, this roster is better than what Wade Phillips had back then.
I can see an awesome roster being built that is solid top to bottom on both sides of the ball.

Rivers gives them that 4th RB for TC. It also forces Schrader to compete for that 3rd RB spot. IMO there isn't a lot of difference between them. But Rivers knows the offense and shown he has at least backup level talent if not slightly better. That said all of these RBs have one thing in common. No true breakaway speed. Corum is the closest to that but even then he timed at 4.53 at his combine. Good but he's not going to outrun a fast CB or safety. He can get good yardage but he's not making any housecalls from the Rams side of the 50. When you look at his running he takes a few steps to get to speed which may not seem like much but it is if he is forced to slow to change direction. Blake's 10 yd split time was 1.59 which is marginal for a RB.
Williams is very similar to Corum except with even slower long speed. He does have a slightly better burst but not by much. I have no problem with Corum as a #2 but this offense deserves better from their starter. Kyren's best attribute is he runs with power, which many RBs can't do. It's what makes Williams perfect if all you want from your RB is a move the chains type of effort. The problem comes when the offense is behind the chains. The RB poses virtually no threat running the ball on third and beyond medium yardage.
On the defensive side the signing of Ford is potentially huge. He is the type of wrecking ball type of NT this defense needs on early downs and obvious run downs. Brown was complaining, but he should compare his film vs Ford's and he will see why he didn't get the snaps.
I think the draft will likely address ILB. If they re-sign Ahkello, the CB spot can be filled. RB, TE and OT (RT and swing) look like 3rd, and 4th round type of priorities.

8 running backs had 3 runs of 40 yards (or more) in 2024 (obviously not all house calls from their side of the 50) and only 4 of those had more than 3. So how common and/or important is that....really?
Are you going to continue beating that "we need to replace KW" drum based on that?
