If so, perhaps you could specify (rather than just saying "LBs") so we can understand what you're suggesting.

OK, no insults there huh? lol. The Rams under McVay have never concerned themselves with MLB, OLB, etc. They tried miserably to have Hoecht cover WRs, TEs, and RBs resulting in automatic 1st downs. They converted Safeties into LBs and have deployed 6 and 7 DBs. Call them what you like. Seeing Verse in coverage is not crazy but not a great idea either. Bilicheck may have started the trend of dropping DEs, even DTs into coverage to disguise blitzes and all teams now try some sort of disguise hoping the ball doesn’t come their way. We signed Wagner for one year who was our only real thumper since James Laurinatis. I’ll say it again. The Rams would have won the SB if they hadn’t traded E Jones to TN. Now we are left with Speights who I never saw as classic MLB. Glad to have him but the rest of the LB cupboard is bare. Call them what you like. Get a guy next to Speights who can also cover but you’d better stock up on tweener SS ‘cause without ILB & OLBs better than Reeder, Rozeboom, and Hummel RBs are going to circle Ram games on their calenders.

Didn’t Isaiah Simmons run a 4.39 at 6’3”? ST replacement for Hummel. Willie Gay is a minute. Plug him right in. Not sure where the rest are at in age and ability.

Some Inside Linebackers still on the market:

Generated By Nate Kessler March 15th, 2025
(Nate is not a real person, he is an AI that searched the internet for articles on this topic and generated the following summary. On occasion he makes up bullshit, and sometimes he will use outdated sources. Feel free to criticize his results)

As of March 15, 2025, several notable inside linebackers remain unsigned in the NFL free agency market. Below is a list of the top 10 available players, along with brief performance overviews and their expected contract values:

Eric Kendricks (Age: 33)

Performance: Kendricks demonstrated versatility with the Dallas Cowboys in 2024, recording 138 tackles, 3.0 sacks, and two interceptions. His experience and consistent performance make him a valuable asset for teams seeking a seasoned linebacker.
Expected Contract: 1-year deal, approximately $3 million.

Devin White (Age: 26)

Performance: An athletic linebacker known for his sideline-to-sideline speed, White has been a tackle machine but has faced criticism for inconsistent positioning. His physical attributes make him an intriguing option for teams willing to refine his skills.
Expected Contract: 1-year "prove-it" deal, ranging from $5 million to $10 million.

Willie Gay Jr. (Age: 26)

Performance: Gay has shown steady improvement with the Kansas City Chiefs, contributing effectively across various defensive facets. While his numbers aren't flashy, his reliability adds depth to any linebacker corps.
Expected Contract: 2 to 3-year deal, averaging between $4 million and $7 million annually.

Jordyn Brooks (Age: 26)

Performance: A consistent starter for the Seattle Seahawks, Brooks has surpassed 110 tackles in each full season. His durability and steady play make him a dependable option for teams seeking consistency at the linebacker position.
Expected Contract: 2 to 3-year deal, with an average annual value (AAV) of $6 million to $9 million.

Josey Jewell (Age: 29)

Performance: Jewell has been a stalwart for the Denver Broncos, known for his toughness and football instincts. His leadership qualities and experience enhance his appeal to teams in need of a reliable defensive signal-caller.
Expected Contract: 2-year deal, averaging between $5.5 million and $8.5 million per year.

Elandon Roberts (Age: 30)

Performance: Roberts has been a consistent performer, known for his physicality and leadership on defense. His experience adds value to teams seeking a veteran presence in the linebacker unit.
Expected Contract: 1 to 2-year deal, approximately $4 million annually.

Divine Deablo (Age: 27)

Performance: Deablo has shown versatility and athleticism, contributing effectively in various defensive schemes. His potential for growth makes him an attractive option for teams looking to bolster their linebacker depth.
Expected Contract: 2-year deal, averaging around $3.5 million per year.

Kwon Alexander (Age: 30)

Performance: Alexander brings speed and coverage skills, having been a valuable asset in pass defense situations. His experience and playmaking ability can enhance a team's defensive versatility.
Expected Contract: 1-year deal, approximately $3 million.

Anthony Walker Jr. (Age: 28)

Performance: Walker has been a reliable tackler with solid coverage skills, contributing consistently to his previous teams. His football intelligence and leadership qualities make him a valuable addition to any defense.
Expected Contract: 2-year deal, with an AAV of $4 million.

Denzel Perryman (Age: 32)

Performance: Perryman is known for his hard-hitting style and proficiency in run defense. His veteran presence and physicality can bolster a team's interior defense.
Expected Contract: 1-year deal, around $2.5 million.

These players offer a range of skills and experiences that can significantly enhance the linebacker units of teams looking to strengthen their defenses.

The above is not an exhaustive list. I did not fact check the article. I won't always list the sources, but below are the ones he gave.

I don’t think there will be much FA movement league-wide until after the draft. No need for the Rams to sign anyone right now. See what the can do in the draft and with UFDAs then address the remaking holes with smart, short term vet deals.

Just sucks for us as it boring until draft day. Lol

I don't see a blind spot at ILB at all. The move from Jones to Speights showed that they made the correct choice. Omar has upsides that Ernest didn't have. He's more versatile than Jones in how he's used. Now that they have that violent hitter inside, he needs further development in his game. Let's see if there is improvement this year as I expect there is likely to be. Now as the rest of the defense is falling in line and they know what they have in Speights, they can find a complimentary player.

Hummel had a lot of promise but he signed with the Ravens. Both Elias Neal and Tony Fields look like STs type players. So I would expect them to take an ILB in this draft. Of the FA ILBs the best have already moved on. I think they wanted to wait and see what they had in Speights who looks the part of a MIKE type of LB with decent speed and violent hits. Now they are looking for an ILB who can cover the short zone, and provide run support.

The big downside with Hampton is his PD skills have been lacking. But is it a matter of lack of skills (i.e. technique) or physical? With the loss of Hoecht, they will need Hampton to step up if kept at OLB.

They re-signed Keir Thomas who IMO hasn't impressed at OLB. That said he's lost a lot of weight (about 12 lbs), which puts him about 260 lbs and should help his poor speed issue.

The Rams clearly have decisions to make at both ILB and OLB (replacing Hoecht). Hopefully Thomas or Hampton can fill the role left vacant by Hoecht. ILB would seem to be the more pressing position.
