They're pulling a Rams reset of a couple years ago but they don't have a Lombardi to show for it and we'll see if they can stay competitive the way the Rams have while shedding a lot of veterans.

"Because right now, this feels like a purge, not a strategy. The 49ers are an enormously profitable enterprise. There’s little chance the Yorks are running out of money. They’re just choosing to cut back this season after spending near the top of the league the past few years. That’s certainly their right. But it’s absolutely fair for fans and players to question why this is happening and why so many other teams — teams the 49ers will play this season — are spending so much more than the 49ers.

How far is this going to go? I’ve heard that talks have started cordially between Purdy and the 49ers on his new extension, but what if the 49ers’ money people decide that they can either go 7-10 with him or 5-12 without him this season, so why compromise? What if that negotiation runs up against the 49ers’ hard line? Where is this headed?"

Well they've spent near the top of the NFL and they have 1 SB appearance. A loss. Perhaps it's management (HC/GM).

On the other hand when a team wins a Superbowl, everybody seems to believe they're worth more than their pay scale. But with the niners, that's happened without a Lombardi. Aiyuk, Deebo, etc.

Maybe ownership has had enough, paying runners up like they're the Champions.

Maybe what they're really trying to do is fill up SoFi Stadium with Rams fans.

I applaud them.

It’s called they gotta pay Brock Purdy and are in No Mans land.

They have no money. Paid Bosa Paid Aiuk Paid Kittle. Paid Mcafrey.

Lost Hufanga lost Banks.

They were gifted a first round pick

The 49ers were fucked by theirselves. Their window is done. They shouldve beat the Chiefs in the super bowl. What the Eagles did they shouldve done. Same Chiefs team even the one the Eagles beat were better.

The 49ers blew it. They had a golden super bowl. And they wouldnt run the ball. Now Debo is run into the ground.

And their idiot kicker sucks.

Russell Wilson is purdy. Seattle had to pay Russell huge overpay which led to the demise of the Legion of Boom and Beastmode as you see now with San Francisco.

The Rams we won our super bowl. Theirs the difference. The Niners have nothing to show for it.

I look at them like the seahawks only the hawks won one but they shouldve beat the Patriots. Those teams with Russell Wilson

With the signing of Mac Jones and their reluctance to extend Purdy, you have to wonder if the Niners are thinking in terms of trading Purdy and drafting a QB. Jones gives them an average #2QB or even a bridge QB for a year.

The Niners have seen one year of Purdy's best. They know he needs a strong team on both sides of the ball to win and a strong run attack. Brock is good but he hasn't shown elite qualities yet. He apparently will always want top $$. The Niners are going through a roster rebuild and can't afford to tie big money to Purdy.

Brock would have good trade value. With him and their low first round pick they could move just about anywhere in this draft. My guess would be one of the dual threat QBs as this would allow them to unload McCaffery and use this draft deep in RBs to take a decent RB. When CMC was out the lack of a ground game severely handicapped them.

I think the Niners go QB and RB with their first two picks.

I suppose its like other fan bases. Some of their fans still think the Superbowl window is open because of Purdy. Probably more a case of wishful thinking. But more and more are seeing the writing on the wall.

Apparently Vegas isn't convinced just yet. They give them the 7 best odds to win the Superbowl. They give the Rams 9th best ahead of the Packers and Chargers. I have a feeling the 49ers will drop as we get closer to the season.

I believe the window is closed for them now. They'll likely struggle to win 8 games. I'm thinking more like what they did last season. Their saving grace for a chance at 9 wins is the last place schedule. But it may not be enough.

That last place schedule is intriguing.

With Mcafrey and Kittle you should be able to get something. Their defense took a hit.
Now what they have going for them on their side is great coaching

shannahan Saleah on defense.

So in the NFL you can always lean on great coaching.

The thing with Purdy is when they needed him to be great and make plays on his own he couldnt do it. When they needed him to lead the team and be that franchise Quarterback he couldnt do it. Thats the concerning thing.

Trading Mason they must feel good about Mcafrey.

Winning is easier with that schedule and when you have a player like Nick Bosa on your defense you always have a shot. I do put him in that class of Max Crosby.

Theyre gonna need guys like Ricky Pearsal to make a huge step in their development.

If we are watching their demise, I am glad we will have a front row seat. Second to watching the Rams win is watching the whiners lose.
