To be fair, it was Kupp who announced that the Rams wanted to trade him. According to reports, the Rams were unhappy that he did that. And now, here we are, unable to trade him...

Great point, and I don't doubt that helped solidify his future with the Rams. No doubt it weighed less than it would with others, but the Rams like to keep their business in house.

Even when things got to their lowest point with Goff; McVay, Snead, et al., NEVER made noise in the press or besmirched the player directly.

Indeed. And Kupp did that out of frustration and also to very much influence a release so he controls his destination. Don't be surprised if he ends up in our division.

Ugh, sadly I wouldn't be surprised if the 9ers threw 20 mil at Kupp just to get McVay's entire playbook. 🤮

Me neither. That is place #1 with Seattle #2 in the places I think he ends up. Chargers #3.

Niners seems to be doing what the Rams were doing a couple years ago so doubt they'll throw a lot of money at an aging vet:

Seattle OTOH, i could see that...

Reports are only as reliable as the source that reports them.

btw, does anyone know the reputation of Ryan Tollner? (Kupp's agent)

Yup. That tells me Kupp will always be a Ram at heart. He is one of us.

Been a HUGE Kupp fan since 2017. Like Max said, "he'll always be a Ram".

Q?: Are we over the cap? Would we be if we kept him through camp?

Guys get injured all the time. Would be insurance for us and a huge trade piece if some WR around the NFL gets injured in camp.

According to Over The Cap, the Rams have $24-$25M in cap space left, however it does not look like Stafford’s new deal has been adjusted yet.

Releasing Kupp will open up another $7.5M in cap space, which is not a ton of space versus just keeping him. I think the problem with keeping him is that he would be a 5th WR and would have to accept that role and McVay would have to accept that as his role and not be tempted to play him over Atwell or Whittington.
