Having traded their QB to the Raiders, the Seahawks must feel confident in signing Darnold. As a Ram it means they will probably finish second in the NFCW. The Niners might live at the bottom or near it for the next year or two.

Darnold isn't an elite QB, and maybe he never will be. That said, he's dangerous if he has a complimentary run attack and decent OL. Unless they do a stellar job on the OL very quick, the Rams will be Sam's nightmare. The Rams now have the defense to really frustrate QBs like Darnold.

One thing is clear, the Hawks are amassing a pretty big haul in draft picks. But they are only as good as the GM doing the drafting. IMO Darnold is on par with Purdy. Dangerous if you let him be, and needs a strong run game and OL. Both the run game and especially the OL need improvement as they finished near the bottom of the league.

Despite all the injuries the Ram OL finished in the top half of the NFL in the season rankings. If they stay healthy they can be a top 10 OL. They were built to pass protect and have done that. Their run ranking would be better with an upgrade at RB.

I was looking at how this draft might unfold. Unlike the last couple of years, I see 3 maybe 4 QBs taken in the first round. Depending upon who the Rams are targeting, they could have multiple QBs that they might have interest in dropping to #26. The dual threat QBs will be the first to go. I see Ward, Sanders, and Dart as the most likely to come off the board in the first round, and they would probably be in the top 10. Other QB needy teams (not including the Rams) will probably wait to draft QBs until Rounds 2-4. But since they don't have a second round pick, the Rams at 26 are basically sitting there with essentially a high second round pick.

With the Rams in SB mode, they would be wise to take a QB this year in the first round. They could sit him for one or perhaps even 2 years and still have his affordable rights for 3 more years. Those two years won't be wasted as the rookie would provide QB2 duties and learn the position as he does. But I think if it's someone like Leonard or McCord they can start in 2026. Someone like Shough would benefit from a second developmental year. Given the contingency of a second year with Stafford is a good thing can be a good thing allowing them flexibility. But they need to get the QB this year for it to mean something.
