Interested to see what the restructure looks like but my take is: This is Sean McVay's team. He wanted Stafford back so he's back...

Wow. No kidding? So all those theories like he sucked in January and was the primary reason we didn't make the Superbowl or he has been talking retirement quite often lately or the Rams would like Garappolo or Darnold to be THE guy or THE BRIDGE guy were unfounded bullshit? Go figure!!

McVay said he wanted it resolved sooner than later.

Got it done by the end of February. I’d say good job.

I found the internet angst on this hilarious.

Business is business. This was in rhythm with a well run one.

And to add, cap certainty at two of the most important positions on a go forward basis.

A good day.

Rams are doing what they did last year, adjusting his current contract so he gets more money (or at least more guaranteed) this year and meaning he will have to revisit this again next year. We don't know the numbers yet. His contract still goes through 2026. A little speculation from OTC:

This would match my expectations. Essentially it's a one year deal with an option for 2026. That tells me they are drafting a QB this year. That option would be in case the rookie gets hurt in TC and loses 2025 to injury like what happened to JJ McCarthy. It also tells me that nothing is set in stone in regards to McVay extending which is about as positive as it will get.

I now look at them taking a first round QB this year. If the guy they like drops to them at 26 great but if there is a run and they don't have an alternative guy then they will do what they must to move up. The Rams basically got back on track with their original time table when they extended Stafford, only it's costing them about $10M more than they originally planned on. But they really don't want to go with Stafford into 2026 because that starts impacting their ability to extend key players. Between Jackson and Stafford I hope they can bring Robinson back.

2025 is a contract year for Higbee so I fully expected him to return. Havenstein buys them a year to develop a rookie behind him be it Leveston or someone they draft this year (which is what I expect). Conor McDermott gives them a vet to play swing OT. Rob is in an option year in 2025 where he's technically under contract but with no guaranteed money. That said I expect them to shift some of the contract to guaranteed status per what teams normally do.

McCord is the QB most likely to drop to them at 26 IMO. He's a pure pocket passer with limited mobility. He's much like a young Stafford in many ways, he's shown the ability to do full field reads which is a must in a McVay offense. Like Philip Rivers he has an unorthodox passing motion but it works for him. Like with Rivers who was mobility challenged, the Rams can offset that with an upgrade at RB. Playaction works best with a RB who is a legit threat to take it to the house from anywhere on the field. There should be some available in the third round who have breakaway speed and also have the vision and agility to run inside.

Upgrade the run attack with new variations of the scheme and a true scoring threat RB with the speed to scare defenses and this offense can roll this year. A proven RB like I'm talking about is the best friend to a young QB1 starter as well.

Zero % chance the Rams select a QB round 1 as there arent any worth taking that high. They wont draft another RB until late in the draft.

Rams will eye TE, OT, CB, WR or DT in the first 3 rounds

Also according to McVay Stafford will be back in 26 as long as he still wants to play.
