We could lose both Kupp and Stafford this offseason. Are you confident in Snead and Mcvay to find a decent replacement? Crazy how they were 14 yards away from beating the Eagles to getting rid of your two big names on the offensive side.

Tom Pelissero says Rams gave Stafford's agent permission to talk to other teams to gauge what he's worth to them, ideally, to come up with a number for Rams to pay Stafford.

Pelissero thinks the most likely outcome is Stafford stays with Rams but everyone agrees, there are other possible outcomes...

yep Rams often let teams discuss contract, basically let them do the work for them.

You can't replace Stafford so no, but I doubt he goes. It would be a massive f up if the Rams dont sign Stafford, the window would close.

With respect I disagree. If Stafford wants to stay he simply needs to make himself affordable, simple as that. I think this is the Rams way to decide the issue. Either Matt gets the elite level contract he wants, i.e. probably $50M/yr plus or he could play in LA for a one year contract of about $30M+ with the understanding he's bridge for a rookie. Either way the Rams will get something they can live with and continue to grow as a team.

I think people downplay just how good the defense played down the stretch. They were instrumental in getting the team into the playoffs and they will be better in 2025 overall than last season. Do people think Purdy or Hurts is better than Stafford? In some ways they are...cheaper, more mobile and a fit for their offenses. Stafford is holding the offense back, by not allowing it to expand the QB position.

With this roster they could win a Lombardi with Purdy. Winning the Super Bowl is a team effort. Stafford and Kupp carried the offense. But Donald and Gaines ended the game with a winning stop for the defense. To think it all depends upon Stafford this year is erroneous. It's going to take the entire team on both sides of the ball to not just get to the SB but to also win it.

The proof is in the Eagles / Ram playoff game. The Eagles blowout KC. The Ram defense gave the Ram offense the opportunity to win their game. To think it all depends upon Stafford is to say he's more important than the rest of the team. The years since the SB has proved that simply isn't true. If it was why didn't they win in 2023?

The Rams need to be good in all 3 phases, i.e. offense, defense and STs. The weakness on defense is stopping the run. The weakness on the offense is continuity on the OL and limited play at QB.

I think the Rams want Matthew to learn how much he could make elsewhere. Their offers would have to tower over ours. This late in his career he is not going to move to God knows where and; have to learn a whole new system; move his young family?; and leave his best football memories behind, right? Once he learns what the top of his market is, I'm confident we will be able to sign him for considerably less.

Wow, that’s optimistic. The way I see it, he made 49 mil last year. He likely wants 60 mil. (If I don’t say THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION I’ll have the thruthie police on me). He’ll get offers of 40-44 Mil for 2-3 years from more than one team and the Rams will have to go 55 mil a yr for 2 yrs or pride will cause him to bolt. I don’t see any team friendly deal here let alone “considerably less” but I’ve been wrong before.

Ya. Letting other teams set the market is risky. If they get close to or north of $50. The Rams are going to have to get there as well. Staff is not going to give much if any hometown discount.

Yes, it’s unfortunate that this years draft is so bereft of QB talent. It’s also why it seems all the offseason talk is about Stafford.

There’s just no good choices out there… so Staff will get a nice bump. So will Purdy, by the way. And even Darnold will find a good landing spot. Good for them— but it will be difficult to manage for the Rams.

No harm in putting it out there and demand a king’s ransom to see if someone is willing to pay it. That is the only way they should trade him.

These offers of a late first round pick, NO WAY
