Little Stan gets Snead's mini me, makes sense i guess.

I read somewhere McVay and Snead were lobbying on Gladstone's behalf.

I also heard where the Ram FO was quietly lobbying for James. I have two thoughts on this. When they did it with Morris it was because they wanted him gone and that way they would get 2 comp picks. They already knew they had the next DC already on the staff and they also wanted to divert attention (IMO) from others they wanted to keep. They really like Ray Farmer and they might have been trying to protect him.

The Rams are pragmatic in that way but it also helps them recruit new people who know just like the assistants know that time spent in the Rams organization is time well spent in career advancement. Teams are looking at the success of Holmes in Detroit and wanting to emulate that kind of turnaround.

There is no question that Gladstone was an important part of the draft process. But I'm sure the Rams already know who his replacement will be. People think that team building begins with the HC. I disagree completely. Team building and maintaining that team begins with the GM. Successful teams have top GMs. Get a good GM and the rest will follow. The Ram's successful drafts the past two years was not going to go unnoticed.

The Bills are another example of it. They hired Brandon Beane in 2017 and in 2018 he surprised a lot of people when they drafted Josh Allen, a raw but talented QB in the top 10 of the draft. He built the roster around his center piece QB and they are perennial contenders since.

Trent Baalke the previous GM came from the Niners where he initially had success but not so much for several years thereafter. Khan seems to have an affinity for the 49er organization which seems to be on a personal level.

Or maybe, and hear me out, Rams have a great culture where they genuinely want their people to succeed whether it's with the Rams or elsewhere? Maybe that's why such high quality people want to work and coach for the Rams?

Really?? I was pretty sure Coen would hire him after he got the second interview.

This is a substantial loss, hopefully the Rams were prepped for this.
