Being a Cal guy I have followed Aaron's career since he was a Juco transfer.

He was a great QB, many say a good teammate. But I wonder what Garrett Wilson thinks of him?? The Rams wont coddle Rodgers and "his" wide receivers wont be on this team beyond maybe Adams.

The issue with Rodgers beyond his obvious erosion of skills ( i.e he has no legs anymore and the zip on his passes arent what it use to be... his biggest attribute was prolonging a play and finding someone for a big gain.)

Those are few and far between now. The biggest issue is his need for attention i.e to a weekly paid radio show every week.

IMO it is a terrible fit and not something I will support. This would likely not last very long as he is made of glass too. Not going to stress about it as I cant see it happening.

From an article on the split between the Jets and Rodgers. NO WAY NO HOW does this guy become a Ram

The Jets reportedly had several stipulations for Rodgers if they were going to move forward together into 2025, according to The Athletic's Diana Russini. One of them seemed simple enough: he had to attend all mandatory practices. While that feels like a given, Rodgers actually missed a pair of minicamp practices last summer while on vacation in Egypt. The old team leadership didn’t seem to mind that trip much whatsoever. Clearly, Glenn and Mougey wanted to get ahead of that situation this time around.

The big thing, though, is that Rodgers would no longer be allowed to make any outside media appearances during the season — which included his regular, paid spot on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Rodgers isn't a culture fit for this team. No way Snead is dumb enough to sign him.

Personally I think they have a trade partner. But are keeping it under wraps as it would expose potential draft strategy. It's why they aren't talking to Matt because then it would be all over the net with Kelly's podcast crowing about the trade. In this case, no news is probably good news. If they fully intended to keep Matt, why all the cloak and dagger stuff? The longer the silence the more I'm convinced he's gone and IMO it's probably a done deal.

It's time for both sides to move on. If he is traded I wish him well. If he stays, then I'm concerned about McVay's longevity as a HC. It's why I think a move is forthcoming and it potentially could keep the Rams in contention for years and as Snead talked about, keep this roster intact for a prolonged SB window. Keeping McVay engaged and energized is all that is important. Matt isn't the key to being in contention, he's just another replaceable cog. How do they replace Sean? They don't, so it's easier to do what they must to keep him. His frustration over how the season ended was clear, and the inability to evolve his scheme was equally clear.

Won't buy his jersey, though. 8-)

I still believe this will all be much ado about nothing and Stafford will be back.

I wouldn't buy his jersey either… but if I was gifted one, I would wear it.

I hope it goes on until the 2nd week of the regular season. I enjoy the daily updates of "Rams Wisdom" by @Dare , he has me checking in here twice a day instead of once a week.

Imagine what might happen if the Rams don't offer Jimmy Garap a contract and instead they bring on Teddy Bridgewater to fill in for the first two weeks of regular season so the Rams can work out a deal to make Matthew Stafford the highest paid per-season QB.

Sort of has a ring to it .... Teddy "The Bridge" Bridgewater.

Dare's head might explode.

The tea leaves are more good than bad:

NFL Confidential: Reunion most likely outcome for Rams, Matthew Stafford
Updated Feb. 19, 2025

NFL Insider

With the NFL Combine next week, we thought what better time than now to start a weekly insider column based on the rumblings I'm hearing around the league. Indy, in many ways, is the ultimate precursor to free agency. Every team, executive and agent attends — which means the framework for tons of new contracts and even possible trades gets set.

Let's dive in.

Built on a house of Stafford

With the Rams making former All-Pro wideout Cooper Kupp available via trade, their starting quarterback will be, in many ways, the key domino to fall this offseason — and certainly in the NFC. While uncertainty remains surrounding Matthew Stafford's future with the team, league sources are adamant that coach Sean McVay and the organization want to keep the 37-year-old Super Bowl champion. Remember, trading Stafford ensures a $45.3 million dead cap hit in 2025 and nearly $23 million in 2026. Stafford, who is scheduled to make under $30 million this upcoming season, is seeking a new contract with future guarantees that will pay him closer to the league's top 10 quarterbacks.

Several teams, per league sources, have called L.A. about Stafford and the belief is a first-round pick would probably be the asking price should the Rams choose to make a deal. Again, the Rams want him back (he also carries a $49.3 million cap hit if released) and there's been nothing to this point that would suggest Stafford doesn't want to play for them, but this is undoubtedly one of the biggest storylines heading into free agency next month. Before then, the Rams and Stafford's agent are planning to meet in Indianapolis to see if they can find common ground.
