There are likely no superstar QBs in this draft. Why would the Rams do that? Staff is getting a new deal and retiring as a Ram. A 2x SB champion Ram

Just a question a friend asked me and I said anything is possible.

He asked me what I thought about the Rams trading Stafford. I told him anything is possible if Stafford is wanting to play two maybe 3 more years that would be beyond what he could get from LA. I told him I thought if he's traded it would be to the AFC and somewhere close to SoCal since he and his family are settled there.

We both laughed and said that sounds like Las Vegas who with HC Pete will be in win now mode. We talked about what that might look like. Stafford and the #26 pick for the Raiders #6 pick. The Rams would draft whatever QB they want, jump the Niners, and have Jimmy G as their one year bridge QB. A lot of evaluators are thinking most QBs will drop this year but this is before the combine. I told him the problem with that is he will be away from home most of the year. It's a 45 min. flight but does he want to do that for 2 years? IMO he will play for LA or no one. My friend is a Raider fan so you know how they are. But he's right Carroll will want to win now and he will need a vet QB to do that.

It made me smile because unlike prior most people think Stafford will be on a year to year basis with his career. People don't realize why I kept saying Matt was likely gone after 2024. When he pulled that stunt before the season he voided the long term of his contract and accepted a one year deal, i.e. only for the 2024 season for $4M more guaranteed money in 2024.

This is why I always understood that the Rams were going to take the next QB in this year's draft. He upset the cart when he made the demands last year after the draft. Because it forced them to look at extending him or using Jimmy as the bridge. This is why trading him wouldn't be out of the question considering what he pulled last year.

But yeah I assume he will be the bridge here as it would give him one more shot at a ring. His tired arm cost them a real shot this past year. As the 4th seed, they could be playing in this year's SB.

Also, I seriously doubt they would be trading Kupp if Stafford was expected beyond 2025. This is likely to be Matt's farewell tour.

I told you the Raiders are signing Darnold and you see the reports. Well if they don’t sign Darnold. I can see your scenario coming through. And I think the Rams would jump at that.
