So these Quarterbacks start thinking about legacy and want to go to a team where they can win a championship. 1 by ramman2999 1 month 1 week ago Total posts: 854 Joined: Nov 23 2022 LA Coliseum Veteran A QB who can scramble and run is now a must POST #32 And all that about Quarterbacks and Hurdy and Hurts. They used spot FA vets to fill holes while rookies developed. Other than Witherspoon that hasn't gone that well. It's why I think the Rams will draft a QB and use a bridge vet QB for 2025. My thoughts quoted right off my notes. LOLRam offensive fits at QB1st rd. Kyle McCord has value at 26 could drop to top half of 2nd rd. Similar to Goff in many respects. An inch or so shorter, about the same speed running, but as a passer is where the resemblance is. The only one of the three that might start as a rookie. If he has a good combine he might go in the first rd.2nd rd. Kurtis Rourke might drop to the top half of the 3rd round. Has similar tools to McCord but more of a developmental player. Projects as a year two starter. Good arm and accuracy a fit for this offense.2nd maybe 3rds rd. Riley Leonard he is a better runner than other two, i.e. a better run threat, but a bit more raw will benefit with a bridge for a year. Good foot speed which is why he could go in the first round or in the second round to other teams looking for a dual threat QB. Technically however he needs work. He projects ideally as a year two starter. Reminds me of Bo Nix last year.3rd day. Will Howard day 3 probably a 2 yr projectMcCord is the only one who might be able to start as a rookie. McCord, Rourke and Leonard project as year two starters with Leonard the best runner of the 3 but has a bigger developmental curve. Most of Leonard's issues are improving his consistency via improved mechanics. That said there is a lot to like about Leonard, who reminds me of Bo Nix in some respects. This was from watching videos, not just highlight clips. I focused solely on players who are pocket passers with the ability to move but not so much as RPO quarterbacks. Only Leonard falls into that category, which is why he could be over drafted if expected to start as a rookie.I was initially high on Leonard simply because of how McVay talks about running QBs. Leonard could be this year's Bo Nix. But if he wants more of a Purdy type of QB then McCord or Rourke would seem to be better fits. by snackdaddy 1 month 1 week ago Total posts: 9956 Joined: May 30 2015 Merced California Hall of Fame A QB who can scramble and run is now a must POST #34 A dual threat QB is an advantage. To a degree. Extending plays with the legs is good. Picking up crucial first downs with the legs is great. But the best ones are pass first and run when necessary. I watched a lot of 49er games. Its seems that Purdy used his legs a lot more than the previous years. Yet, the wins and stats were down. Running isn't always an advantage. You want a quarterback who can read defenses and make all the throws at a high level. If I had a choice between an immobile elite processor of defenses with a good arm or an exciting athlete who is an average processor, I'd take the immobile processor every time. I'd take a prime Tom Brady over Allen or Jackson if I had a choice. And you elevate Riley Leonard so high. Howard beat Riley Leonard head to head. Watched Will Howard all season. Hes not CJ stroud. But that Ohio State offense took a clear upgrade when he transferred and stepped in for Mccord. Howard has been balling since he was at Kansas State. Are there some limitations yes. But when you see a Vet who can step in and has had College experience like a Jaydon Daniels you take notice. Hes had big wins dont ignore the top teams he beat to win a national championship. Oregon ranked number 1 all season Texas a perenaial favorite for the national championship. And Notre Dame. The number 1 ranked defense in the country all season. Daniel Lanning has a great defense. He carved them up. Somebody had to make all those throws to Jerimiah Smith. If he doesnt nail the throws he can’t catch them. The clutch throw on third down against Notre Dame. The money down throw third down he had to make. If he doesnt make that throw game over they might not win. That’s a hard throw. He placed it where only Jerimiah could get it. I look at stuff like that. I saw Brady at Michigan in the Orange Bowl beat Sean Alexander and Alabama in Overtime. You just see it. You just saw it. The kid had it. But he went in the 6th round and Chad Pennington was drafted before him. Im not calling Howard Tom Brady. But sometimes you should value the winning.
