I think the most likely scenario is the one Avenger lays out: Rams give Stafford more money, he's here for probably one more year.

But we don't know for sure what either side is thinking. The Rams were unwilling to give Stafford multiple years of more guaranteed money when they adjusted his contract last year, reportedly something Stafford wanted and didn't get. The understanding was they'd revisit it after the 2024 season. Well here we are. Could be a while until it's truly resolved though since the adjustment came in July last year...

Understood on all points. I got to believe any concerns the Rams have/had was based on durability. The Rams have absolutely no choice if they want to contend for a championship.
Stafford wry smile said it all to me, the fact we were this close this year, makes me think we have one last ride!! I hope it gets figured out prior to TC this time ugh.

I think he sticks around for another year. Or even two. If he is thinking about retiring now I hope he doesn't drag it out. Without Stafford we'd be in the unenviable position a number of teams are. Quarterback purgatory. If you have championship aspirations you do not want to be in that position. Its by far the most important position in team sports.

I think if the Rams didn’t make the playoffs or had a poor season he’d retire. I think making the playoffs and making some serious noise makes him think that this team is capable of doing it again next year and he wants to be a part of that.

A lot of players need to step away and recover mentally and physically before they get themselves geeked again. It takes longer and longer the older they get.

They damn well better be working on developing someone. No way Stetson is anything more than a Jimmy G backup at best. And the problem with looking for a FA QB after next season is that you’re competing with other teams and often way overpaying for who you end up getting.

I think if Kupp truly loves playing and living in LA, he takes a restructure with about 2 actual years of real money. At that time, I’d assume he’d either be willing to hang them up. Plus he and Stafford are pretty close and if Stafford is gone after 2025 that means he was to work with a new QB to try to get the synergy he has with Stafford. That takes a lot of time as well

The Rams top priority this off season needs to be QB. If Stafford comes back it will only be for one year. If they don’t prioritize QB that tells me we are looking at a potential crash and burn season to earn a high draft pick.

I think both Stafford and Kupp are gone at the end of the season. Kupp will either traded, released, or will he will retire because he makes too much money to miss games every year.

Both had great runs, got their accolades and their rings. Both have nothing to prove, except for Kupp who is self-motivated.

They both will forever be fan favorites if indeed this is their last season.
