Avenger, I did answer the question. Stafford for a year if he wants it. Also, this offense doesn't have to be as dependent upon having a superstar QB1. McVay has reworked his offense to be more compatible with a greater number of QBs.

The Rams, go with a bridge, be it Stafford or Jimmy. Both are better than whomever the Niners are figuring to trot out next year, be it Purdy or a rookie. Kyler is who he is: a kid who doesn't put in the work and would rather play video games and spend his millions. Seattle doesn't have a quarterback and reportedly they might be looking at Jimmy G.

That gets them the one year of mentoring and coaching the draftee will need, and he starts in 2026. This implies that McVay might sign an extension to his contract beyond 2026, which is the most important aspect of all this. I think coaching is starting to wear on Sean because he's testy when he never has been. As I've been saying, I don't really see the quarterback question as important. What is important is whether Sean is going to be the Rams HC beyond 2026.

Others are pointing out that only the media says this draft is bereft of talent. There is more than they realize if a team is willing to redshirt a rookie QB for one or two years. These players probably can be had at the bottom of round one through to the top of round 4. Others have pointed to others that potentially can fill the bill. The outside of round one QBs don't break the draft bank and as Purdy has shown if you draft well, you get yourself a bargain QB1.

The important thing is to look at the Seattle game. It was a validation of Sean's improved system where his #2 QB almost beat a motivated Seattle team of starters with backups. This is why I'm saying Jimmy with the starters wins that game. Jimmy with the 2021 scheme doesn't win a SB but they can with this roster and the scheme changes Sean has made the Rams just need competent play at QB. This is a move the chains control the clock offense and can strike quickly if it has to.

As Les was saying over and over again in his interview, just win baby that's all it's about. Winning by one point counts as much as 21 points. So do they fill their early down NT need by moving up to the middle of the first round to grab Walter Nolan or someone like him? I think it's a strong possibility as a first-round pick.

Turner is a pure 3T. Fiske is a 3T or he has the speed to align in a 5T. Someone like Nolan can play 0T or 1 T. A proven run stuffer in the middle of the DL is all that is missing in the front 7. Or they take an LT in round one.

I think they take their QB1 of the future on the second day. There is more than one they can choose from.

No, you didn’t “answer the question.” No question was posed. I made an observation and assertion about the other NFC West teams, which you have largely ignored as you continually ramble into unrelated topics.

If you want to talk about other things, start your own topic. What you’re doing is just rude and obnoxious.

Will Howard ran a great offense Ryan Day and Chip Kelley. Hes ready. He ran a pro style offense.

He was like 12/12 to start the National Championship game against Notre Dame. Thats extremely Accurate.

Matthew Stafford is the Quarterback here and will be the Quarterback here. 2 seasons. Hes extremley accurate.

But at least you have a Quarterback here Will Howard after he retires.

AvengerRam wrote:So we have an aging QB who wants a new contract.

Big deal. If the money works out, he's still a championship caliber franchise QB. We'll need a successor plan before long, but there's time for that.

I'd take that "issue" over the rest of the West.

49ers - Brock Purdy is a good young QB. Good... not great. He lacks elite qualities and skills that would allow him to carry his team. But, with one more year on his Mr. Irrelevant rookie deal, the 49ers are going to have to make a choice: overpay him or start from scratch. My money... or, should I say, a lot of their money... is on overpay. It's a decision they can't avoid that (coupled with other free agent and aging vet issues) could hinder them for several years.

Not to mention Purdy's QB rating in the second half and trailing is terrible. Granted when a team is trailing it's either because they are screwing up or the opponent is better. But you've got to be able to bring your team from behind, late, if you're to be a franchise QB.

AvengerRam wrote:Cardinals - Arizona has already hitched their wagon to Kyler Murray. Is it me, or is the only consistent thing about Murray his penchant for late season diminishing returns? This year, he had a passer rating below 81 in 5 of the last 7 games (all losses). He's exciting, and sometimes looks great, but he just doesn't seem to sustain play for 18 weeks. But, Arizona has no options... they're stuck with him for at least a couple more years.

Quite right. He is who we thought he was. An undersized QB with mobility, who can flash at times, but can't sustain NFL contact over the course of a season. Probably why he fades in the second half of the season (cue the picture of him trying to crawl under the turf as AD approaches).

AvengerRam wrote:Seahawks - Seattle may be in the worst position. Geno Smith is talented, but extremely inconsistent. They are stuck with him for 2025, in all likelihood, as they lack the draft capital (18th pick in the draft) and the money (estimated $27M OVER the cap) to replace him. In fact, with that cap issue, they probably will lose some of his weapons.

Geno is a reclamation project that has been relatively successful. Relative being adequate. He seems to always be shaking his head in losses like it was somebody elses fault (?).

AvengerRam wrote:So... we have a contract to work out. Not so bad.

Sooner, rather than later will probably include more guarantees. Which makes him the best value in the division.

Geno Smith isn’t a leader he’s a front runner. When it’s going good we win as a team. When it’s going bad. It’s he don’t know what’s going on out there. Guys gotta start taking accountability. He’s full of bull shit.

Nothing says Franchise Quarterback about him.

Nobody’s saying replace Stafford. Nobody’s a fucking idiot. He won us a championship. We traded a whole franchise to get him. He’s our guy. It’s him and Warner.

We are just preparing ourselves when he retires. If he retires there are other alternatives.

We aren’t gonna bring in a mediocre guy to run our offense.

It will be a star who wants to look at that opportunity to win a championship.

Yeah…none of that is on topic for THIS THREAD. That’s what I’m talking about.

I'm a ride or die guy for Stafford. At his best, he's probably better than Mahomes with his better ability to read defenses and superior ball placement.

I'll agree we've seen him slip occasionally. Maybe it's due to injury or age. I think it's a little of everything and most to do with him just not being a young buck and having a lot on his shoulders (and some wear and tear.). But 80% of the time, he's the best version of himself and that is still enough to win championships if we have the right pieces around him. Certainly for 1 more year.

The funny thing about Murray-- he's like a Baker Mayfield waiting to happen. He's got an attitude (not team first or possibly even football first) that's gotta be fixed. I feel like BM had similar issues. And he's got a size problem that may or may not be a general problem. Honestly, if he bought into McVay/Rams football-- I wouldn't be against it.
