Stafford has the keener mind and experience edge between the two but Jimmy has the health edge. Jimmy will give you a more consistent level of play through out the season IMO but Stafford can be outstanding on occasions. Both would be good mentors to a rookie. If Stafford stays he plays under the current contract for 2025. I don't see Jimmy staying for anything less than $20-$25M. If Stafford retires they should save around $26M and that IMO is what they will pay for Jimmy. In otherwords I think they won't be much of a cap impact either way.I think what 2024 showed is that playoff seeding has clear advantages. IMO Sean will be aiming at either the one or two seed. I think 12 wins is very achievable and perhaps even 13 wins. 13 wins probably gets them the 2 or 3 seed. I think 14 wins can be achievable looking at the schedule. I hate that both the Ravens and Eagles will be away games. I only hope that they come early in the year. Detroit is a home game so it's likely going to be a December or January game. I think a healthy team can matchup well or better than the rest of the schedule. It wouldn't surprise me if the Rams sweep the NFCW. That said a lot depends upon health and the moves the rest of the division makes. Either way I see the Rams again staying at the top of the division. It will be hard for the rest of the NFC to replicate their win totals next year. But if the Rams can win 14 games and stay healthy, I can see them in either of the top two playoff slots. In that case this is a clear SB contender. If I can see it so can Matt and I think it will be a huge motivation for him to return for one more year. That said, I think the only reason he told the Rams he will think about it is not because of him but because of likely promises he made to Kelly 4 years ago. That is why it's not a given he will return. But again, this team is good enough on both sides of the ball to win with Jimmy. Health will be the biggest limiting factor as it has been the past two years. by ramman2999 1 week 3 days ago Total posts: 774 Joined: Nov 23 2022 LA Coliseum Veteran STAFFORD - will be tough call POST #49 Rams arent debating between Jimmy Goropollo and Matthew Stafford. Mathew Stafford is the Quarterback of this team. Theres a huge dropoff from Stafford to Goropollo. The Rams wont contend with Goropollo as their Quarterback. Everybody in that building knows Stafford has to come back. If he retires it’s because Kelly told him to. by AvengerRam 1 week 3 days ago Total posts: 8799 Joined: Oct 03 2017 Lake Mary, Florida Hall of Fame Re: STAFFORD - will be tough call POST #50 Occam’s Razor: Stafford’s and the Rams are being, and will continue to be, noncommittal in their public statements because they’re about to negotiate a new deal. And all based on what, exactly? It's the off season and we need something to worry about? Meh....#9 will be under center in 2025!I want Stafford back. I think he probably will be.But Stafford himself said he would take some time to think about his future. When asked directly if Stafford doesn't retire, will he be the Rams QB, neither McVay nor Snead gave a direct answer.Instead they went on to talk about what he has meant to the Rams in the past and say that they will address issues like that after taking some time to decompress.I think there's a little something there worth keeping an eye on. I know i will be doing just that...
