I'm assuming that with the more limited depth on that side of the ball, that Shula will give most of the snaps to his rotational players, some of whom are pretty good. Guys like Hoecht, Davis, Gallimore, Reeder, Kinchens and others aren't scrubs. On key third downs I think we will see guys like Turner, Verse, Fiske and Young. The Seahawks for all their bravado in reality have little to play for. With the exception of Geno who has $6M of incentives on the line, the rest know that a big roster shakeup is coming win or lose. Just how motivated will they be if they get behind by two scores? We saw a sample of it when DK Metcalf ran a very sloppy route that resulted in an INT. Once they get behind I think their bravado fades and it becomes a game of survival for them (not getting hurt). Jimmy G though maligned by some is actually a pretty good QB. He knows this is a very important audition for him, just like Mayfield knew that when he was in LA. He's going to be very motivated to ball out. The same goes for the backups around him. They will see this as an opportunity to showcase their abilities with the opportunity to move up on the depth chart. That will be true on both sides. Both Williams and Witherspoon might be gone next year. There will likely be a change over to a limited degree in the WR room and this is an opportunity for guys like Whittington to make their cases for more play time. Like in the other games the key to success will be on offense to come out quickly and establish a lead. It's in games like this where locker room culture comes into play. Rotational players will play hard for pride and the opportunity to climb the rotational depth chart. Bobby Brown is in a contract year. Will he be extended? IMO guys like Tyler Davis who has flashed during the season can make his case to become the starter inside on the IDL. What I'm saying is that the Rams have a lot to play for, on personal levels, and I think that McVay is banking on that. Let's look at the OL as an example. Jonah Jackson should return to his natural LG position. Dedich who played well in relief at center should start there. Dylan McMahon reminds me a lot of Corbett when he was signed. McMahon played well at RG at NC State and the Rams poached him off the Eagles PS stashing him on the active roster. The Rams thought enough of him when they scouted OL to use an active roster spot to grab him and keep him. So I think the OL behind which Garapollo will play can be decent. He knows these guys from his scout team. McVay's offense is primarily focused upon the run game and short to intermediate passing which is Jimmy's strength. If the OL can play well Jimmy and Corum are good enough to do some damage. If the Rams can go into halftime with a lead the game might be over by the 4th quarter. As long as the Rams don't allow the Hawks to hang around they can deflate the Seahawk balloon and come away with a win. Motivation, coaching and lockerroom culture are huge advantages the Rams have. A 1-4 start would have buried most teams. But the Rams have locked up the division and are on the verge of going 11-6. You don't do that without the aforementioned. It's why I never gave up on this team. This season has proved their post bye run last year was not a fluke. by /zn/ 1 day 19 hours ago Total posts: 6894 Joined: Jun 28 2015 Maine Hall of Fame Week 18: Seattle @ Rams POST #59 PARAM liked this post PARAM wrote:We will rally around Jimmy G and play football.
