End of first quarter impression:

Matt get your head out of your ass.

Defense, defense, defense. Cue the "we were lucky" complaints. The defense has now allowed 24 points the last 3 games. Or another was to look at it is our offense has scored 44 points; as many as they scored against Buffalo, and we went 3-0.

So once again the defense saves the day.

The offense was smellier than a room full of linemen eating chili. :shock2:

But......

Growing concerned about offense. Defense playing well but if they make playoffs, they will be playing some top tier offenses. Offense is gonna have to play much better and score alot more.

Stafford was awful. He looked like Peyton Manning at the end of his career.

Is it fair to question if Stafford is close to washed?

After watching 2 other games today then this stinker I have come to a conclusion. If the Ram offense doesn't get any better than they were today and have been lately they will go nowhere moving forward. Nobody at SOFI or any fan watching this game on TV expected to get a game saving interception that almost wasn't. Az marched down the field on their last possession and it was their game to lose. Fortunately they did. The Cardinals had nothing to play for. The Rams were at home with a playoff spot dead ahead and the offense stunk up the stadium. Reality has hit me squarely in the face and my disgust is growing. The Rams are just slightly better than mediocre and their offense is lousy. Their defense is playing very well but how many more miracles do they have in their bag of tricks? This truly better be a wakeup call or the off-season will be a long one.

I'm sorry but Stafford looks his age. Too many of his passes were poorly thrown. He can't run and is absolutely no threat to a defense. This isn't lost on McVay and Snead. This is Matt's final SB run as a Ram perhaps his career. This game brought Stafford's shortcomings into the bright lights, which is what I've been saying for months, i.e. that this isn't something that hasn't been evolving for a long time.

McVay has done all he can with an immobile QB. The much doubted defense has come up big lately. Kudos to Shula and his staff. Witherspoon has been clutch again, why he was released was a surprise to me and shows it was a mistake.

The offense did all it could to keep the Cardinals in the game. They did exactly what they needed to avoid. When it was obvious that Noteboom was struggling why didn't McVay give him a TE chip? Sean did the same thing with Havenstein when he struggled vs Crosby, i.e. he ignored the obvious.

The Rams didn't win this game they escaped a loss. That said the defense was clutch on a 4th down stop and the INTs. They are playing far more consistent than the offense which is completely healthy with no excuses.

Shout out to Karty, way to go kid!! Turned things around and became the PK that the Rams need.

The team truly needs to start planning on moving on. Stafford may already making new plans that don't involve football-at least playing. I may be Matthew's biggest fan going all the way back to Detroit but he no longer looks like he has elite skills. Nothing lasts forever and the dam has cracks.
