It’s highly likely we’re in if we beat AZ. I don’t think anyone questions that fact.

The only open question is how likely is it that we clinch in week 17 if we beat AZ.

That only happens if we get 3.5 wins from 6 other teams in week 17. Those teams being:
Buff
Wash
Minn
SF
Cincy
Cleve

If we assume each of these games averages to about 50-50 for the purposes of calculation, using the Bernoulli trial method of probability analysis, then it’s about a 35% chance we clinch in week 17 if both we and SEA win.

With the KC win today the Bills have nothing left to play for. They can rest (and lose) the next two weeks with little to no effect on their playoffs unless they have a preferece of who to play.

I think we can safely remove them from our SOV hopes/dreams/prayers.

If Baltimore wins, the 2 seed is in play, depends how much Buffalo cares about that.

Spread is still Buffalo by 8.5 to 10 against the Jets...

Pittsburgh is fading......0-3 heading into the final week. And it's not like they played well and lost. Fortunately, the Steelers beat both the Chargers and Denver in weeks 2 and 3 so they are probably the #5 seed. Getting Houston isn't so bad.

Denver or LA at Buffalo
Denver or LA at Baltimore
Pittsburgh at Houston

If the Rams manage to win the West and stay ahead of Atlanta/Tampa.....they'll probably get either Green Bay or Washington. Green Bay plays at Minnesota and vs Chicago, while Washington plays Atlanta and at Dallas. If the Packers slip up once and the Commanders win out, Washington has a better conference record right now. The Rams would get Washington. Green Bay would go to Philly (if they finish #2). And Minnesota or Detroit would go to Atlanta or Tampa. The chance for the Rams to host 2 postseason games would be in play. And wouldn't that be special after starting 1-4?

I don’t expect us to have clinched going into week 18. It will be interesting to see how the league schedules week 18 games to keep teams unsure if they’re in b4 they play.

I guess it all depends on how much we need to clinch. If we get 3 of 6 games in our favor, I’m thinking they won’t go nuts with the schedule to keep us from knowing.

Is this right?

Seattle: Arizona 7-8 (twice unless we beat Ariz, then once), Denver 9-6, Miami 7-8, Atlanta 8-7
That's a .506 win pct

Rams: SF 6-9, LV 3-12, Minn 13-2, Seattle 8-7, N.Orleans 5-10, Buffalo 12-3
That's a .522 win pct

Of course if we beat Seattle it's over.

If we beat Arizona, their record is 7-9 and you can take one sub .500 record off Seattle's formula.

We want wins the next two week from the group we've beaten (minus Seattle).
We want losses from the group Seattle has defeated.

Seattle's wins:
Arizona (@Rams, vs San Fran)
Denver (@Cincy, vs KC)
Miami (@Cleve, @ NYJets)
Atlanta (@Wash, v Car)
Losses

Rams wins:
San Fran (vs Det, @ Arz)
Las Vegas (@N.Orl, vs LAC)
Minn (vs GB, @ Det)
Seattle (@Chi, @Rams)
N.Orl (vs LV, @Tampa)
Buffalo (vs NYJ,@N.Eng)
wins

By my math, if it goes that way Seattle's beaten opponents would be -6 (48-54), Rams beaten opponents would be +3 (61-58). We could even afford to have Minnesota lose to Detroit and Green Bay (59-60).

WHAT A GREAT TIME TO BE A RAMS FAN!!! Since McVay arrived, the Rams have won the NFC West 3 times (finished 2nd and qualified for a Wild Card two other times), SF 3 times (qualified for WC once @3rd) and Seattle once (and qualified for a WC three times @ 2nd). They can be division winners 50% of the time under McVay.

They don't have to do anything crazy, just make the Rams one of the two Saturday games next week...

Don't forget Chicago. For SOV to come into play, Seattle will have beaten Chicago. And you can scratch Seattle from the Rams list because, again, for SOV to matter, they will have split with the Rams and both teams will have the same record.

If you're right: Denver, Miami and Atlanta lose. Minnesota and Buffalo win, SOV will be wrapped up this week and if Rams beat AZ, Rams will have clinched the division before week 18. But that's a lot of if's, especially on the SOV games...

Good point. I didn't realize they were gonna have Saturday games.

If Denver, Miami, and GB win this week, then we don't clinch.

And then I bet they move us to Saturday.
