POST #21 McVay's record on short weeks is a credit to his staff. Yes it's his game plan but the ground work is laid by his staff. This is why his staff is always in demand for HC, DC and OC slots. Before he season the Jets OL was revamped and considered a top 10 unit. That said they are giving up an average of 2 sacks per game which puts them into the average category. If the Rams could beat the Niners front they should be able to deal with the Jets OL. IMO that is a major component to the Rams winning this game. This is a favorable matchup for the Rams defense. Offensively, the Rams need to commit to the run. Run defense is the Achilles heel of the Jets defense. In other words this is a team that the Rams cannot sleep on and I don't think they will. by ramsman34 3 days 22 hours ago Total posts: 9453 Joined: Apr 16 2015 Back in LA baby! POST #24 Elvis, actionjack, ramsman34 and 1 others liked this post This team isn’t good enough or consistent enough to take ANY game for granted. Even when they play well it is 4th quarter nail biters. As far as the weather goes, I think this is getting way overplayed by some fans. It’s something if the wind is over 20 MPH, it is sleeting, it is pouring snow etc. Even a brisk 25 should be a good day for grown men, donned up in pads running around at least half the time. The heat is a helluva lot more of a factor than the cold to me. Plus, this team isn’t a finesse team like maybe previous ones. They are willing to grind out the run game and controlled short passes which is what you need in elements like Sun looks like.Keep the Jets dump offs and short stuff in front of you and make tackles and you will get your 3rd downs. The Jets are also great at shooting themselves in the foot if you give them a chance. POST #26 I agree that just cold is really only a factor in the kicking game or deep throws. Considering how McVay doesn't like to kick anyway, and the passing game is short to intermediate then I don't see temp as a real factor.I also, agree that rain, snow, strong consistent blowing wind, and heat are bigger game day factors. As long as it's not raining or snowing the Rams have no excuses in not burying these guys. The media, including PFF (what a joke they are) are building up the Jets for beating a 3-11 team. Yeah I'm really impressed that a potential HOF QB was able to throw against the 31st ranked defense, but what they didn't say was the Jets had to win it in the 4th quarter. In other words the Rams would have to lose the game via mistakes and turnovers, if they don't win. If they can't win games they should with a healthy team then they don't belong in the playoffs. The Rams have zero excuses for losing this game. by Elvis 3 days 17 hours ago Total posts: 40085 Joined: Mar 28 2015 Los Angeles Administrator Re: Week 16: Jets 0-13 never forget! POST #29 That TV map shows just how far the Rams have come in 10 weeks. Media people formerly saying the Rams were a train wreck are now saying they are sneaky good. In the NFL winning cures all but is only good for as long as you keep winning. At this time of the season the Rams have no room for error. They need to sweep the next 7 games all the way through the SB. Assuming they can stay healthy this is no different than the original expectation for this team when they were healthy.Every game from here on out is a playoff game. Winning the division is simply the first step. They don't want to win the division based on tie breakers. I felt an 11-6 record was achievable and it certainly looks like it now. That will get them the NFCW title and give them the momentum they need going into the playoffs. This is a young team, that feeds off that momentum. I think it would be a mistake for McVay to take his foot off the gas if they should in the last game. There is no guarantee they can regain their winning form when they need it most. Some in the media are calling this a trap game and in some regards it is. The coaching staff must keep the young players focused upon each game from here on out. It's why IMO it would be dangerous for McVay to back off in the last game. by ziggy 2 days 23 hours ago Total posts: 639 Joined: Apr 24 2018 LA Coliseum Veteran Re: Week 16: Jets 0-13 never forget! POST #30 I got the Rams here. I think with Higs coming back-- McVay is gameplanning that. I expect a lot of Kyren and (hopefully) Corum breaking free with new TE and WR blocking sets.McVay runs the offense and I think he saw the true potential in the Bills game with the full strength Ram's O. We come out fast, strong, and just score on every drive. This will pressure the Jets and they'll fall apart playing from behind. I hope the D takes advantage and force AR to take risks and make mistakes.
