I don't know how those contracts work, maybe incentive bonuses come to play but for sure the player gets the league minimum during his time on the active roster

Klein is a longtime LA Times reporter, has had the Rams beat since they returned. Before that he covered the Trojans...

Snead didn't fall for that shit.

I never heard of Klein before ... he sure has a weird way of making a name for himself.

Gary Klein has never been a particularly dynamic beat writer, in my opinion (with either the Rams or the Trojans before that).

Personally, I always thought Jim Thomas did a great job on the Rams in St. Louis. Or Kevin Acee with the San Diego Chargers was another good one.

Yes, as far as i can tell, if a player is promoted from the PS, they get paid the league minimum for that week.

So if it's a rookie or 1st year player getting $12,500 per week on the PS, they would get the rookie minimum $795k/17 or a little under $47k for that week, almost 4 times what they get on PS...

Both Jim Thomas and Klein are old school beat writers. Jourdan is the new school where you get much more in depth analysis which is nice.

Nobody ever has a bad word to say about Klein, he's a pro's pro.

But when has he ever broken a story, reported something we didn't already know, given us insight we wouldn't have otherwise had?

That answer might be, never.

Back in the day, we didn't get to watch the press conferences so we depended on our beat reporters to tell us what was said. That was huge.

Now we can watch for ourselves so how much value is a traditional beat reporter who works some of those quotes into a story?

So true, I remember hanging on ever tidbit I would get from Jim Thomas. Literally I would get that small blurb about the Rams from Jim Thomas as part of the Sporting news, oh my how it has changed...
