We all know we've had injuries. It's always said, the team never makes excuses for injuries. But as fans, we can. So while these injuries have hampered our ability to accumulate wins, they might have also built our depth going forward. We have a great offensive mind in McVay and a future HOF QB in Stafford. Missing Kupp, Puka, Higbee, Avila, Jonah J and Alaric for the first two weeks, really tested their abilities to overcome. Now we're sitting at 4-4, which normally would have suggested a bad season, if not for the rest of the west having just as many issues.

As a result of all of those injuries, we've developed our OL depth so when Avila and Jonah J return, we will have experienced, competent backups. That helps if we need a start from one of them or even a couple of series. Our WR corp has proven to be strong (once again) and it's imperative they not be forgotten and ignored now that Kupp and Puka are back. In fact, spelling those two a little more often wouldn't be a bad idea. Hell, Tutu is our leader in receiving yardage and DRob our leader in TDs!! At RB it would be nice to see a little more of Corum just to keep Kyren fresh.

Just look at our wide receivers numbers....

Receiver ..... Receptions ....Yards.....Avg ...... TDs
Kupp ...............34..............302........8.9.........2
Tutu.................25..............366.......14.6........0
DRob................21..............327.......15.6........5
Johnson...........18..............220.......12.2........0
Whittington......18..............201.......11.2........0
Puka.................12..............152.......12.7........0

TEs and RBs:

Parkinson........23...............214........9.3..........0
Kyren...............20..............116.........5.8..........2 (10 TDs including his rushing TDs)
Long..................5................43.........8.6..........0
Allen..................1..................5.........5.0..........0

We have 6 weapons which rival any WR corp in the NFL. And with #9 at the controls, we should be hard to stop as long as the OL returns to health and Kyren stays fresh. But I understand why McVay keeps him out there. He accounts for more than 50% of our TDs.

Get this offense rolling again, our defense improving steadily and we could have a nice finish.

Couldn’t agree more. Battle tested. It sucks to be at 4-4 save for the way we got here. Lost opportunity to be in first place by a couple games but we have the tested depth on offense instead of huge Q marks. If McC lucks out with less DE talent to contest and isn’t the swinging gate we saw earlier we could be at full strength by Thanksgiving. Wouldn’t mind a TE trade today if Higbee isn’t ready.
