Fields certainly would appear to have the talent to play MIKE in this defense. What I like about Fields is he's a good tackler, makes quick reads, and has enough speed to play the position with 4.6 speed. In other respects he's similar to Jones, in terms of athleticism. But I think Field's ability to make quick reads combined with slightly quicker response and solid tackling make him a slightly better fit than Jones. Jone's limited athleticism is exactly why he's now in Seattle. I like Fields and hope he can make a quick transition because Reeder, Hummel and Rozeboom are not the answer, especially starting long term. If both Fields and Speights can develop into starters the Rams will be set at ILB. The other 3 have played long enough for the Rams to know exactly what they have and don't have in them. Hopefully, both Fields and Speights can fill the last remaining hole in this defense. I have no problem with Hummel and Rozeboom as backups, I just don't see starters in them. 2 by Dare 2 weeks 6 days ago Total posts: 311 Joined: Mar 09 2024 Tucson, AZ formerly of San Diego Starter Rams Sign ILB Tony Fields II POST #5 This dates back to Field's draft evaluation.
