And last year, the realistic view when we were 3-6 was "they're done". "No way they make it to .500, forget about the postseason".

My realistic view is NOBODY in the West is lighting the world on fire. So rest some during the bye, get some more young guys up to speed and get some guys back. We may not have to be 11-6 to win the West. And realistically, we're 2 games out of the lead with 12 to play. Looking at the schedule with a marker and writing W or L next to each game doesn't work. Not prior to the season. Not during the season. At the end of the season, sure but by then who needs to do that? :D

You’re right PA. This division is actually lessening the blows of our losses. But, I don’t watch to “hope” we make the playoffs with an inferior team and “hope” we get lucky and win a game. I want what I want; a team building and improving and gelling as they move through the season then are primed to compete at the highest level in the playoffs. That was my expectation this year. So that’s on me. Injuries are real factors. However, there are so many mistakes being made pretty much everywhere. That is hard to watch and harder to extrapolate into a steady climb of improvement.

I actually felt this team would pull out of it last year bc the losses were freakish - no calls in the Steelers game, Rypien in the Packers game. This year? Man it’s anyone’s guess. They can’t play a complete game in all 3 phases to save their life. How does that get fixed with all the youth and all the injuries while having to win now to dig out of this hole? We are still 1-3 games out in the division. And waaaay out in conference.

What's different? They can't get better? They're young. And we already have something we thought was gone with AD. A terrific pass rush. Clean up the secondary.....all new except for Lake and Durant....by getting better together.

I understand. It's "vent time". So we'll vent, worry and kvetch our way through the bye week and see what we have in two weeks. Maybe you'll be surprised. But by no means do I agree with the assessment some are making. I'll write it off to disappointment venting.

For all the missed tackles :roll2: , poor coverage :roll2: and 3 turnovers, we had the opportunity to drive for the winning score at the end.

Therein lies the problem; we’ve been “in position” to win 3 of the 4 losses. If you think a bye week and maybe getting Kupp back fixes that, ok. Hell, I think it might fix a few things. But, this 1-4 hole just feels different than last year. I think we beat the Raiders. Then, we play the Vikings on a short week. Will that be the “this team has really improved” game where instead of being close, they will actually finish? Who knows. But 2-5 is a very real possibility. Then a mini bye before we head to Seattle. I think by then we should have a pretty good idea if this team is on the rise or just rebuilding.

Ya I’m venting but I’m not really mad. I am just pointing out what I observe and what that means to me. I see the same miscues over and over. We will see if those actually get cleaned up as promised. I see a team that just doesn’t seem all that talented in a lot of areas. Injuries impact that. There is no Puka giving us hope this year. Everyone is just kinda average or below. The pass rush has been great, just not today. They got some pressure and a couple sacks. But they lost edges, lost contain, and had too many missed tackles - again. Hopefully there is more good news than bad (Whittington left the game late and did not return) over the next 2 weeks.

They did have a chance to win. Hell I even thought for a second they would but Green Bay is lousy. What happens when they play quality teams? Their schedule is pretty soft so maybe a repeat of last season is still possible but these injuries keep happening and we're thin outside of our best starters.

We don’t get OL back, except balsa wood Noteboom for another 4-6 weeks so between Miami and Philly games, Kupp by either the Raiders game or Minnesota. Puka by probably Miami.

The thing is, to stay in this race they have to win basically every game affording themselves 3 possible losses between now and week 18.

That is a tall task and hard to see happening.

But it could.

Yep we are in a big hole now that is for sure, prolly are only chance is the division sucks (record wise) and 10 (maybe 9) wins does it.

The fact is we could be 0-5, but we could also be 4-1.

The defense is young and dumb, bad angles, bad tackles, bad communication. But outside of the Cards game has held teams to 24 points or under.

The offense was supposed to be one of the best in the NFL but injuries has derailed that plan. We can't expect to win scoring 14 points. We have to do better than that. We constantly get in our own way, with penalties, missed blocking assignments, outside runs for 5 yard losses and over lack of cohesion between QB and wideouts.

Right now our offense isnt good enough to dig out of holes so execution has to be almost perfect.

Getting back to defense after an embarassing 3Q they did give us a chance. Again we make an extra point the game goes to OT most likely. I liked the changes in the secondary, but this defense is going to take awhile to find its footing. I would love to see Rozeboom replaced by Hummel or Speichts. I dont think Reeder is coming off as he wears the green dot.

The bye is definitely coming at the right time. Regroup, they should have Kupp, work him back in the offense and focus on one thing, beating the Raiders. The rest dont matter.

As of right now with a 1-4 record the Rams chances at making the playoffs is 12%.

Remaining Games:
Raiders
Vikings - TNF short week
Mini bye @ Seahawks
Dolphins - MNF
@ Patriots
Eagles
@ Saints
Bills
@ whiners - TNF short week
Mini bye - @ Jets
Cards
Hawks

Have to win 9 of those 12. So where are the wins and losses, realistically??

Can we beat the Vikings, Bills, whiners, Eagles, Saints, Jets?? Seahawks twice?

Sadly, I see 5 more losses with a final record of 9-8 - not accounting for all injured players returning to performance level expected as we don’t know when they will return.

Does either Avila or J Jax get back soon enough and who do they replace when the come back??

When will Nacua be back and will Kupp be healthy when Puka returns??

When will John Johnson get back to get the back end better coordinated?

Who else out will be back in time to make a difference, Higs??

9-8 could get you into playoffs, will see, maybe we can eek out another win. We definitely need more players back. Need to win 3 of the next 4, than see where we are at.

We lost to the Lions in OT by 6 , lost to the Bears (a damned good defense) by 6, lost to the Packers by 5 and got blown out by Arizona. Fold the tent. It's over! :roll2:
