Yeah, we paid a lot to get Fiske. After MurphyII, he was the ONLY DT left in this draft who is short, strong, sorts out plays fast AND is quick. He posted elite cone times at the combine. In other words, the only one left who could at least partially replace our huge loss of AD retiring. Also, look at our other picks--we should now have quality depth almost everywhere. this will allow for us to platoon our new Dline and keep our front fresh during games. Also, with the few years remaining of having both Coop and Matthew in their primes, maybe the thought was we couldn't wait longer to develop our complete D talent. I really like this guy.

It's really simple. It's NEXT YEAR'S pick. You won't miss it until next year, if at all. It allowed the Rams to move up with the #52 pick and a 5th, instead of #52 & #83 or #99. It allowed them to keep 4 picks in the top 100. And let's remember....it was for a guy they wanted/needed NOW. Who knows who would be the guy they miss out on at the bottom of the second next year.

How badly we need the draft to land a starter will depend on the guys currently on a 1 year or the last year of their contract. I know every receiver except Kupp, Nacua, and Whittington are in that list. And quite a few others. But a lot will happen between now and the 2025 draft.
