Especially since Stafford is under contract until 2026. Does anyone think Matt will play out the length of his contract before retring. Possibly 3 years of a possible first round QB not getting any playing time

Unless they land in the top 5 or trade up, I say no. I can see them taking one later to develop. But this will depend on the internal convos with Stafford and he with his regarding his intentions for the next 2 seasons.

I can see them trading back in the first to get one if they aren’t happy with any of the corners, edge, LTs available where they pick. And my guess it will be lower in the first due to them making the playoffs.

Why are we talking about drafting a QB?

Stafford isn't going anywhere!!!

He still has a guarantee of 31mil for 2024,

Plus the cap hit is ridiculous.

If they made it to the top five, in which I don't see that happening.

But if they did, I would say they would trade that pick for future mega picks.

Lets say, Stafford plays the rest of the season,

Wentz most likely will sign with the RAMs again,

cause before another team will go out of their way to sign him,

They're gonna want to see live action from Wentz.

Then at that point, it would be year 2025,

Where then if the RAMs wanted to release Stafford or he retires,

It would be a way lessor cap hit in 2025.

Then McVay has his Vet QB behind center and not some rookie QB,

that has been practicing with the RAMs for two years behind Stafford,

learning McVay's system.

If I was the RAMs FO, that's what I would be telling Wentz is to sign with us in 2024,

because of the possible situation.

Especially if he doesn't play any games this season.

What the hell are you talking about? :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

How would you know that?

First off, why did McVay wanted Stafford so bad,

and traded Goff away?

Cause McVay knew adding Stafford with his experience,

could take us over the top.

Remember, Goff was a second-year kid when McVay took over,

Apparently, he didn't work well with Goff because of his youth.

Now you have Wentz a seven yr vet, learning the McVay system,

and learning behind Stafford, with the next couple of years,

He would be perfect fit for McVay.

THIS is exactly why we should draft a QB now. So we can take time and see what we have and get him as prepared as possible for life in the NFL. Waiting until Staff's time is up means drafting a QB and having to FORCE him into NFL ball, that is a 50\50 split regardless of how big a college talent he is. Couldn't have said it better myself Kurt.

As far as having Wentz goes, the dude is made of glass, he's a more talented Wolford. It might look good for a little while, but it's going to fail painfully and spectacularly.

Comparing him to Woofie??? :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Woofie couldn't even sniff his jock strap!!!! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Thats a great example of Warner,

He didn't get a chance until he was 27 years of age at the end of the season,

After playing in the arena league and gaining experience.

Then started for the RAMs at age 28.

Wentz was in the running for MVP in his second year,

until he played the Rams and we put him in the IR.

I think McVay could bring the best out of Wentz. IMO

I started a thread asking basically the same question the other day. Yes we should, stafford is great but wont last another two years. We need to look towards the future not wait till he'a hurt and have nobody to take his place. Wentz is not a long term answer.

As it stands right now I would say Rams are picking in the teens, and are not Drafting a Quarterback. The thing that could change this though is if Stafford gets hurt and misses time yet again this year.

The guy has baggage but more talent than a lot of backups. What they wish to do with him and what he expects from them, will determine his presence or lack thereof and how much he plays into their plans. IMO, to say definitively "he won't affect their plans on drafting a QB" or "he will allow them to pass on a QB" are premature.
